The more European countries act as colonies, unable and unwilling to stand up to Trump, the more they’ll be treated as such, says Guardian Europe columnist Nathalie Tocci

I'd like to write this defies belief but unfortunately, it does not.

How Germany’s historical high mobility fell short of its reputation: Our data reveals that intergenerational income persistence sharply increased for recent cohorts, reaching levels comparable to the US and coinciding with increasingly class-dependent educational attainment.

A year ago, I went to Copenhagen to write about the political crisis sparked by Trump over Greenland. Danes told me that the US can already do whatever it wants on the island.
Their conclusion: Trump just wants the U.S. to look larger on a map

"Trump might forget about Greenland. But also, he might not. Nobody knows. He operates on whims," @anneapplebaum writes.

These usually don't. The "West" has stopped pretending international law has any meaning.

De jure they do, de facto not.

Anyone for sanctions on Trump, his family, their companies as well as Trump's cabinet for flagrant violations of international law? If not (as everyone expects), good luck with support next time Northern interests are violated.

They are out of their minds but as US allies accept anything they do, including seizing another country, under what logic can they protest seizing Greenland?

And yes, in the presented scenario of unifying to deter a looming Russian invasion, Jens Stoltenberg is the Federal Chancellor.

When will EU realise that MAGA-US is now one of its main adversaries? And not only in trade wars (in which it is the main one)?
Denmark lost more troops per capita in the post 9/11 war on Afghanistan. Saying they “are not a good ally” because they won’t surrender their territories to the US is lunacy. We are betraying our allies to satisfy the whims of a would-be Emperor for whom the US is not enough.
They’re again advocating against Denmark when it comes to Greenland

153 countries voted to protect international aid workers from violence. The US was the only country to vote 'no.' The stated reason by the State Department is that it is a ploy to advance 'radical gender ideology.' You cannot make this shit up.
