Micheál Martin giving us several reasons why he's a terrible person, all in one headline and just in time for Christmas!

Their drift to the far right is becoming more and more visible … and dangerous! No Taoiseach, it’s the polices of FF/FG governments that created this crisis #speirgorm

Except for some gender critical ráiméis from the countess person, this is quite a positive article on 10 years since the Irish Gender Recognition Act passed - most people, as one interviewee said, are ‘happy to let trans people get on with it’. #speirgorm www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Ireland’s 2015 Gender Recognition Act was born in an era of optimism and consensus, but as gender-critical activism grows so does debate whether it can hold

At long last, some much needed good news today that swearing is good for us 🤬. For those of us (especially me) who are very sweary excellent to learn that swearing is a ‘calorie-neutral, drug free, low-cost’ way to boost performance. Thank **** for that then 🥳.
Don’t hold back, swearing can boost performance by lowering inhibitions, study finds
Study finds dropping an expletive can raise confidence and help people push harder during physically demanding tasks

Peadar Tóibín lying that Aontú stopped ‘abortion up until birth’ when the Dáil voted not to restore a private members bill (to abolish the three day waiting period). Tóibín playing the far right misinformation game & Aontú would rather women continue to travel after fatal foetal diagnosis #speirgorm

the most incredible thing I've seen from the FF report is not that Micheál Martin picked his candidate after one meeting with him and did no polling for his candidacy, but that he said he wanted a candidate with "some sort of moral authority" and picked JIM GAVIN

O'Callaghan and Fianna Fáil are aligning themselves with the absolute worst people and politics in Europe, and journalists need to start asking them about it.
To date, I have seen little evidence that Irish media is prepared to meet this moment, and I fear the worst.
Liam Herrick: Why has Ireland abruptly decided the European Convention on Human Rights goes too far?
Precedent could have far-reaching consequences. Who is to say the rights of gay citizens won’t be the next target by a coalition of hostile states?
