“It’s potentially the biggest political scandal of this century”

As MPs force Keir Starmer to publish files about Peter Mandelson's appointment as US ambassador Skys Beth Rigby provides a detailed summary of how we got here
Excellent article but stark reminder that for all the perceptions of universities as ivory towers for elites, they are actually vital hubs in towns n cities supporting local businesses and providing key services as well as education….
‘If I think about what this means, I want to cry’: what happens when a city loses its university?
When Essex University’s Southend campus opened, it was a message of hope for a ‘left behind’ UK seaside town. Its closure will be felt far beyond its 800 students, some of whom will not get their degr...

The prevailing narrative that feeding the world is the preserve of industrial agriculture is based on flawed logic.

Refreshing to see a rhetorical device often used by anti-migration politicians flipped by @alanbeattie.bsky.social "More people attend English League Two football matches to watch the likes of Accrington Stanley and Crawley Town in an average week than arrived by small boat in the whole of 2025."

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization.

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.

If the UK media now do not apply equal harsh measures to Nigel Farage than they did to Angela Raynor, then they are complicit in
a) a Mysoginist narrative where men are forgiven and women 'should have known better' and
b) are actively saying they are okay with Farage in charge.
The Prime Minister of Belgium speaks:
Q: Did you invite Putin to be on the Board of Peace?

TRUMP: Yeah. He's been invited

Q: Thoughts on Macron saying he won't join?

TRUMP: Did he say that? Nobody wants him bc he's going to be out of office very soon. If they feel hostile, I'll put a 200% tariff on his wines & champagnes & he'll join

A lot of us feel this way.

The same people who spent the last 4 years arguing that Russian expansionism is not a problem, and that Ukraine being invaded was the fault of the West, are now arguing the US must take Greenland by force to stop… Russian expansionism.

It is astonishing how dumb their supporters are.

A sad, ridiculously over-promoted mediocrity with absolutely no understanding of the word ‘dignity’. I mean of course the idiot on the left.
