If the US wants to sanction an EU Commissioner for work he did to restrict the spread of extremism in the EU then that is a decision that must have consequences, incl reciprocal denial of visas - not least for the leaders of tech companies who lobby the White House to undermine the EU / EU law

I wish the Brexit dinosaurs would stop this "Erasmus is for posh kids" crap. Half the young population goes to university, these days, in UK and most of EU. And most of the half that doesn't is also eligible for Erasmus+, which covers schools, further education, adult learners and in-work training.

This is a very good review of how complicated it is to sequester Russian funds. Surely Belgium is right to prefer the EU to launch a genuinely federal eurobond to finance Ukraine. Doubtless Trump could be inveigled into bullying Orban to lift his veto ?

Deutschlandfunk doing nice work on exposing the US trips of AfD politicians; interesting shift of travel trips away from Russia to US. Can only hope BND (secret services) equally alert and efforts to declare AfD unconstitutional well grounded (that is difficult). Germany is key here.

It's revealing about taboos around racism that the visceral bullying racism of schoolboy Farage cuts through while the much more consequential thinly veiled racism of adult Farage doesn't. column maybe coming on this but I don't hugely care about what 61-year-old Farage got up to at school? and I think that Fleet Street finally gunning for him is symptomatic of a culture where the gotcha/scoop factor matters so much that hidden past actions are seen as worse than current, public ones
