A real Good Samaritan
One act of kindness that befell Leeds writer Bernard Hare in 1982 changed him profoundly. Here he tells his story.

George Michael died on Christmas Day in 2016.
He will be remembered for his incredible songwriting talent, his gorgeous vocals and for the greatest non-apology video of all time, following his arrest for cottaging.

Thinking of everyone, especially in the LGBT+ community, estranged from their parents; I hope you have made your own family with someone who loves you. Warm thoughts to you today from all at Maugham Towers.

My advice, as someone who enjoys a wonderful relationship with parents from whom he was once estranged (before the age of internet chatrooms): if you want your children back, start with self reflection and contrition. Oh, and don't write for a newspaper that hates them.
Sarah Ditum: the voice of parents, some driven mad with hate by the very newspaper for which she writes, who rejected their children and now struggle with the consequences.

Sarah, I'm pretty sure hectoring them from the pages of The Times won't bring them back.

It's crazy that labour is even more homophobic than reform.

This poll also shows how stupid it is that people believe parents are transing away the gay when they're far more transphobic than homophobic.

Same! This case even came up at an ethics conference I was at recently and 90% of ethicists in the room thought it was up to the teenager
Whilst the preference of a Jehovah's Witness for death over a blood transfusion seems bizarre to me, I don't really understand why this young person should not be able to decide for themselves?
Teenage Jehovah's Witness can receive blood transfusion, judge rules
The child told medics she didn't consent to receiving a blood transfusion even in the event of a medical emergency.

An absolutely enormous amount of work over 5+ years to get to this result.

A huge credit to my client Ian McGrail who has kept going despite the many barbs and arrows flung at him over that period.

We're keen to challenge the predicate to the case brought by the (revoltingly homophobic) Christian Institute: that upholding the rights of those protected by the Equality Act is a contestable and political stance. So, thanks, I guess to them.
Supporting LGBT+ rights is political in a way that breaches the civil service code and opposing them is not political in a way that precludes charitable status is a... complex position to hold, although one managed by former LGBA hate group with charitable status trustee Kathleen Stock.
