The real question is why sitting members of the UK Parliament are allowed to take on second jobs that run contrary to the stated national interest.

If this episode, with failings evident for all to see, doesn’t force reform of the system, nothing ever will.
Kemi Badenoch’s spokesperson has said that the shadow attorney general Lord Wolfson has recused himself from any legal advice over Ukraine or Russia because he is representing Roman Abramovich - which would include anything about the deployment of UK troops. That’s a bit awkward.

Fifty million Brits had a Covid vaccine.
The speed at which they were developed is one of the success stories of the last 25 years.

Farage took to the airwaves today to say they were not real vaccines.

This might be a popular view in the MAGA movement, but it's not where the British public is.

Starmer: Any deployment of troops to Ukraine would require a debate and vote in the Commons.

Good, but the troops, equipment and plans would need to be on the Ukrainian border on the day of the ceasefire, and the surveillance of the line of contact would really need to be there before that.

The Trump gang is demanding exclusive control of "its hemisphere", and at least full access to the other one.

I'm ready to go with the "Trump Corollary", as written by the people behind the throne (though we only have the public version).

There's no point in spending more on defence - or health - or most things - if you don't have a plan for what you're going to spend it on.

And it would be very depressing to start cutting into long-term capital plans again.

"Under NATO’s new estimate, the UK expects to reach at least 4.1% of GDP in 2027. All Allies will review the trajectory and the balance of spend between defence and wider national resilience in 2029, when NATO next reviews its capability plans."
