I find USA correspondences from @simonmarksfsn.bsky.social as of most important for UK audiences at this time.

These are surreal times, and Simon sums it as it really is!

It is genuinely one of the funniest bits of memory-holing the extent to which, other than a handful of dyed-in-the-wool Jenrickites, everyone to the right of Nick Clegg in British politics has forgotten that Badenoch inherited a party on the up in both the polls and local elections.

Just heard an AI ethicist talk about how important it is that we say ‘MEN are using Grok to undress images of babies, children and women’ not ‘Grok is….’. Grok isn’t responsible for the action, the men enabling & using it for this repulsive purpose are. Small but important bit of linguistic accuracy

A propos my last post…
Bloomberg's X account has more than 800k followers. Their most recent post was shared five times

It would basically come at close to zero cost for outlets like Bloomberg to delete their X accounts, and "We don't want to use a non-consensual deepfake abuse app as a comms platform" is a fine excuse

I think this still gets overlooked. It wasn’t just the tidal wave of racist filth, it was the deliberate puncturing of the life preservers.
I scrolled the feeds of people who vanished from Twitter after 2022, and it's wall-to-wall Democrats whose last tweets are basically "the new algo buried me", "I'm being throttled", and "no one sees my stuff anymore."

I am extremely confused as to why the UK government and police are saying Grok’s mass-scale CSAM generation is an issue for Ofcom.

This isn’t about X failing to moderate CSAM, which is an Online Safety Act issue. It is about the company and its technology being actively involved in its generation.

Remember when a guy lost an election and then spent months making wild, baseless claims that it was stolen, leveraging the personality cult he’d built to try to get people to reject the results? And then thousands of his supporters rioted, injuring hundreds of cops?

Whatever happened to that guy?
