GOP: "Soon the accumulated filth of all their caving in will foam up about their waists and all the moderate Democrats will look up and shout 'WORK WITH US!'...and we'll look down and whisper 'No.'"
Shaheen: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the govt is open to get this done. We've heard the same thing from the White House. So now we'll see if they're really gonna work w/us"

This is true. This past year our savings dipped because we got a plug in hybrid and more than halved our gas consumption, but it still covered the Executive Membership cost.
Also- if you drive an average amount of miles, and have their Visa card- the savings on gas EASILY covers the annual membership. They're routinely the cheapest gas around here, even before the additional 4-5% savings thru the Visa card. I save 70+ cents a gallon once a week. That's $500+ per year.

The ACA vote was meaningless and that was obvious. The SNAP and RIF reversals were more or less being overturned in the courts. This was a monumental own goal.

So there is a bright side to Trump's incompetence, you say?

Can't decide if this is a Kakistocratic Kleptocracy or a Kleptocratic Kakistocracy.
So Donald Trump’s big donors and giant corporations get massive tax breaks, but Americans waiting for SNAP payments are told to eat dirt? Did I get that right?

Trump must be impeached, convicted, prosecuted and imprisoned.

AP reporter Regina Garcia Cano looked into a few of the men killed in Trump's extrajudicial strikes on Caribbean boats.
"They were laborers, a fisherman, a taxi driver. Two were low-level career criminals. One was a local crime boss who contracted out smuggling services"

Trump has accused boat crews of being narco-terrorists. The truth, AP found, is more nuanced
One was a fisherman struggling to eke out a living on $100 a month. Another was a career criminal. A third was a former military cadet.

He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

Unprecedented corruption - not just monetizing the presidency by selling branded products, but selling those products directly to government employees and having the Department of Homeland Security promote them to the media

The question is whether this behavior violates the spirit and the muffuletta of the law.

Back in the 80s I worked at a hotel where we had a long term resident who we did not know had dementia until we had to go in his room for something and found post-it notes from his son everywhere saying things like "this is the bathroom" and "you are in a hotel".
Bringing this up for no reason.

I absolutely can get behind this.
The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

Opposing counsel recently filed a brief that was so poorly reasoned I felt like making my entire response simply this. I didn't, but I bet there are a few lawyers in the Comey case feeling the same temptation right now.

This is the equivalent of writing "nunc pro tunc" on your tax returns, which will buy you a $5k fine from the IRS. It's worse, because Bondi is not a good lawyer but also not a stupid one. It's the equivalent of filing a piece of foolscap with feces smeared on it and calling it an argument.
Attorney General Pam Bondi says she has retroactively appointed former Trump attorney Lindsey Halligan as a "special attorney" for DOJ and has "ratified" all of her actions to date, including her presentations to the grand juries that indicted Trump's foes.

Johnson: "If they had no filibuster, they would pack the SCOTUS. You'd go from 9 to 17 or however many liberals they could pack. You would make DC & Puerto Rico into states, which would give 4 additional Democrat senators & make us a permanent minority. You'd see massive restrictions of 2A rights"
