At least 40 Venezuelans, including civilians, were killed in the attack. And that's likely an undercount as reporting is ongoing.
🟡 NEW: The New York Times and Washington Post learned of a secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin Friday night — but held off publishing what they knew to avoid endangering US troops.

Honestly we should be impeaching Schumer as well for being the most useless shmuck in America, btw whatever fucking happened to that promised healthcare vote in December?
Schumer: “I was in the SCIF on 3 different occasions … I asked them: Are you pursuing regime change? Are you intent on taking military action in Venezuela?"

“And they are assured me they are not pursuing those things”

‘We’re going to run it’ beyond how illegal this is by the bare minimum of international law, do any of these dipshits remember how Iraq and Aghanistan went for the US?

President of Brazil calling for international action against US

First steps should be global boycott- no participation in US World Cup, Olymplics or any other international gathering here.

Given ICE raids and visa bans, that should already be in place, but Trump illegal war crimes should seal it

I guess we’re gonna find out once and for all right at the start of this new year whether or not the USA has a Constitution and / or a legislative branch.

Three million people live in Caracas, five million in the metro area. It's one of the densest cities in South America. Remember this in the morning when they try to spin this as anything other than a cold-blooded attack on a major civilian center.

Nope it really is the 3rd day of 2026 and the US has started a war
SOAR (A) Little Birds firing rockets in the middle of a South American city, did I wake up in 1989?

It’s high time for the entire world to stand up to the maniacs who wield power in the US, as our own institutions and legislators won’t.

The world must boycott the World Cup and the Olympics.

It is both the only moral choice and will actually get the attention of these dead-eyed clout demons.

I sincerely believe the real cultural impact of Avatar is pretty fucked up and poignant: for most people on Earth, its computer generated imagery of an imagined planet made by artists is the only affordable way to connect to an immersive experience of natural habitats we’ve already destroyed here.

As Adam Curtis tried to desperately warn us for years, there was never a Russian ‘conspiracy’, instead the oligarchs with actual power in the West are trying to reshape our politics to be just like theirs.

Was ChatGPT’s personality derived from a database of the worst unsolicited sexts on dating apps sent by men who use the world ‘milady’ unironically?
Guys they combined burrito taxi discourse with AI discourse.

Will never understand why people ever devote a single neuron or pixel to someone like Noah Smith, a total nobody. Just live like he doesn’t exist, it’s so easy.

I've spent the money to scuba dive reefs in Australia and yeah,
experience of a lifetime, but you see the diminishment, warmed ocean temperatures, and ecosystem ruin.
Weirdly, tragically, $25 to see the reef in Avatar in a movie theater in 3D is sensorily closest we'll ever get to what it once was.
My first dive was in 1999. When I came back that same spot 15 years later I was heartbroken. All of the colors I remembered were gone.

A fascinating thing to me about ‘Avatar has no cultural impact’ is it’s just reinforcing a toxic miasma infesting Hollywood’s exec mindset: only pre-existing ‘IP’ has cultural value, instead of how crucially something new needs time. Plus that episode of How to With John Wilson about Avatar fans 😭.

Now THIS is cinematic cultural impact 🤗 btw Frankenstein is STILL playing in movie theaters in NYC
