1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

Palantir has not responded to requests for comment. But after our first article, it published a blog post responding in part. Palantir said its for finding specific people with orders of removal. But the guide says, sometimes you need to turn that off. So which is it?

One section of the guide indicates that during “special operations,” which target “groups of pre-defined aliens” leadership wants action against, normal safeguards in ELITE may need to be turned off. By default, the tool shows people with a final order of deportation, and with no reason preventing their removal (these can be turned off by a user of the tool). For special operations, the guide says those filters may need to be removed “to display all targets within a Special Operation dataset.” Palantir did not respond to a specific question asking if this undercuts the idea ELITE is a targeted, rather than broad, tool.

OTOH, the issue w/ these long-term charts is that it implies that all other conditions in the US and world economy are constant. But they are not. 10-year Treasury yield was 1.5% in 2012, its 4.2% today, for example.

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.

I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
