one thing the trump era has made clear, i think, is that the american people themselves are far more committed to the values of our founding documents than our elites

BREAKING:

A federal judge just ordered the release of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father from immigration custody — condemning their removal from Minneapolis as unconstitutional.

Judge Fred Biery condemned "the perfidious lust for unbridled power" and "the imposition of cruelty."
1/ Ian Austin has since been re-arrested along with Don Lemon, which he believes is bc the video we made of him (below) criticizing the Trump regime and encouraging fellow vets to wake up had gotten millions of views.

Studies have shown the impact of days of widespread peaceful protests. Social movements expert @chenoweth.bsky.social explains why not to underestimate No Kings Day: nokings.org/#signup
👀 Looks like the husband of the woman ICE abducted called his lawyer, lawyer called the cops, then the police chief went and got her & took her home

Article says it may be the first time local Minnesota PD "intervened in a federal law enforcement action" since Trump started terrorizing the state
JANE FONDA: “I know Don Lemon. My husband created CNN. And I will fight for their right to speak… they arrested the wrong Don. This is how autocrats act. We can’t fall for it.”
Union workers solved the trolley problem, you're welcome
Minnesota based Independent Journalist GEORGIA FORT has been arrested for filming a protest of the church pastor that works as an ICE manager. SPREAD THE WORD! Georgia has been doing outstanding reporting from ground zero!

Regimes that rely on repression face a challenge: The more force they deploy, the more they risk exposing their own brutality to politically persuadable observers. One small thing you can do today: ICE is ramping up in Maine. Food For All is delivering meals to 300 families that can't leave their homes. They need $7k a day to continue operations. The Culture Study community is raising enough to cover a day—join us?

The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents border patrol officers at the National Border Patrol Council, calls on Kristi Noem and Stephen Miller to resign or be fired
Running list of athletes who have spoken out or taken action amid the Trump-Vance administration spending billions of US tax dollars on masked agents who have racially profiled, beaten, and kidnapped thousands of people — and murdered Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti:
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

The Minnesota civil resistance campaign has been remarkably successful:

- The GOP governor candidate dropped out
- Numerous DOJ officials resigned
- GOP members of Congress are speaking out; business feels pressure
- Noem has been relieved of operational responsibility

The campaign is winning.
The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE
Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling on ICE: "They are an undisciplined militia and the leadership is awful...This is not policing and it's not military service. It's something dangerously undefined."
pretty wild statement re: Republican Chris Madel drop from race for MN governor:

"Saying he cannot support the national GOP's 'stated retribution on citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so."
This is a turning point. Nobody wants what we’re seeing in Minnesota.

Speak up. In your workplace, in your community, in any forum you have.

Just emailing friends and coworkers and saying this is wrong is a powerful act. Expressing yourself to others. That is democracy.

Just don’t be silent.

(For an academic citation of this phenomenon, see McAdam 1982, or this summary: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...).
Crowd is massive, now overflowing Congress Plaza and taking up a block-long stretch of Michigan Avenue.

Reminder: this event was only announced yesterday.
On the weakness of state terror: once ppl internalize the regime's lawless brutality, that they are no safer in their homes than in the streets (& vice versa), and that their unwavering defiance is what confounds & disempowers the regime, they also realize they have nothing to lose but their fear.
This administration is cooked. Literally no one is scared of them.
Exercising our constitutional right to document and record ICE and other federal agents is more important than ever. This call will give you the tools to exercise your rights in a moment when federal agents are terrorizing our communities and using excessive force: www.mobilize.us/nokings/even...
