Alford: "On Bad Bunny - we're still investigating. There's info out about the lyrics. I don't speak fluent Spanish, but if it's true what was said on natl TV, we have a lot of Qs for entities that broadcast it & we'll be talking w/ the FCC. This could be worse than the Janet wardrobe malfunction"

So they’re “investigating” Bad Bunny for bringing joy to 135 million people?
Your tax money well spent. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Rep Mark Alford (R-MO) says House Rs are "investigating" Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show & talking with FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr. Alford says he didn't watch the whole thing & also doesn't know Spanish but suspects it might have been "much worse than the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction"

Trump often talks of a 'third term' in office and now of 'taking over' the election process from states. He has turned ICE into a personal paramilitary force. ICE just spent half a billion $ buying warehouses to convert into 'detention camps'. Is this how US democracy dies ? (cartoon Dave Granlund)

KENNEDY: The Census Bureau is under your jurisdiction & responsible for defining what it means to be poor, is that right?

LUTNICK: I don't know

K: Well you need to look, bc it does. What's the % of Americans who live below poverty level?

L: I don't know

K: It's around 11%. It's been constant

The Bad Bunny halftime show:

Over 135,000,000 viewers.

The white trash alternative:

6,000,000 viewers*

*But some people who can’t afford cable watched it on YouTube, y’all!

This celebrated the old ape imagery, this time directed at first Black presidential family & placing that thinking at top of US power structure. After much public criticism, includ. some Republicans, this vicious video was deleted even as Trump refused to apologize & disingenuously blamed his staff.

He reposted on social media account video with aggressively racist segment depicting Barack & Michelle Obama as apes. This powerful clip, apparently from right‑wing video, fused false conspiratorial narratives abt “stolen” 2020 election with dehumanizing white‑supremacist tropes abt Black people.

This commentary was then praised by the white mayor of a local city and many other white commentators online.
Most dramatically yet, in February 2026 this viciously racist imaging was proclaimed at the political top of this society by no less than President Donald Trump.

Well into twenty-first century one finds huge numbers of white racists stereotyping/imaging Obama family as ape-like on many websites, including those of the major social media. E.g., a white county development official slammed Michelle Obama as “an ape in heels” n a Facebook/Meta comment !

ICE arrested ~200 people during its surge in Maine. Only a few had committed a crime.

DHS data shows <14% of the people they’ve apprehended had charges or convictions for violent criminal offenses.

Fourteen.

The “worst of the worst” argument was always bullshit. Now we have the data to prove it.
Less than 14% of those arrested by ICE in Trump's 1st year back in office had violent criminal records, document shows
The official DHS statistics, which had not been previously reported, provide the most detailed look yet into who ICE has arrested during the Trump administration's crackdown.

For an attorney to resort to extortion to clear his client isn't ideal.

For an attorney to undertake that extortion expressly and in a public is incredibly stupid.
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.
