It’s been a tough year for nature, but there are reasons for hope. 💚

From Nepal’s landmark snow leopard survey to the first satellite-tagged hawksbill turtles in Fiji, this year gave us real wildlife wins to celebrate. 👏

Together, we can bring our world back to life. 🌍

Can you tell your reindeer from your caribou❔

Both are the same species, but they're miles apart!

🦌In North America, wild herds are known as caribou, while ‘reindeer’ only refers to domesticated animals.

🦌 While in Northern Europe & Siberia, they’re all known as reindeer - wild or domesticated!

Scotland is steeped in myths and legends, from our wonderful wildlife to powerful plants. ✨️

In folklore, evergreens symbolised protection and luck during harsh winters. Fairies were said to shelter in holly leaves and people brought holly inside at Hogmanay for good luck. 🌿

The longest night of the year means lighter days are just beyond the horizon.

A few extra minutes of daylight each day = more time to spend in nature. 💚

Emperor penguin chicks are on the move.🐧

In December, these tiny explorers have shed their fluffy down and start to step off the sea ice and into the ocean for the very first time. 🥹

It's been 10 years since the Paris agreement, where world leaders agreed to limit the global temperature rise to under 2 degrees. 🌡️🌍

There's still a way to go, but global collaboration IS working.

We need to keep this momentum going.

Behind each image is an amazing team helping to protect them.💚

Camera trap snapshots from our winter monitoring with partners in Northeast China Tiger & Leopard National Park.

This year WWF partners:
Carried out a total of 1,342 patrols
Covered the distance of 14,842km
AND removed 132 snares! 🙌

Even a cat this powerful needs protection from poachers. 💔

A century ago = around 100,000 tigers
15 years ago = as few as 3,200
Today = around 5,700

We're making progress, but tigers are still in trouble.

Gift a gift that lasts this Christmas. 🎁👇

Storks and beavers are being re-introduced to London! 💚

A brilliant step towards more green spaces. We agree with @london.gov.uk, we all need a daily dose of nature on our doorstep, great to see London taking the lead. 👏

And it's happening here too. The UK's puffin population are suffering as sandeels are overfished.

Our oceans provide habitats and food for hundreds of thousands of species, as well as mitigate climate change impacts.

They need our protection. 🌊

It’s looking like 2025 was a good year for the Emperor penguin colony near the DDU station.🐧

During monitoring, researchers have counted the highest number of incubating males since 1975!

These Emperor penguins have been monitored since 1952, with WWF funds supporting the research station.

The government's new Environmental Improvement Plan just dropped - but does it do enough to protect nature?

Great to see action on air pollution and restoring landscapes, but we need this to be a true priority, and for this plan to be delivered.
