Asked point-blank if he’ll bring ACA extensions to the floor, Speaker Johnson bolted. We know the answer already. He won’t.

Further proof that Republicans don’t care about bringing your health care costs down.
November 10, 2025 at 3:39 PM
A deal that lets ACA credits expire fails the millions of families counting on us to keep their health care affordable.

Republicans have spent years trying to dismantle the ACA, and pretending Johnson will allow a vote on a clean ACA bill in the House is a fantasy.

I will be a no on this “deal.”

🚨BREAKING: The cruelty of this Administration keeps reaching new extremes. Trump’s USDA is ordering states to UNDO the work already done to feed millions of hungry families, kids, and seniors. It’s abhorrent, it’s chaotic, and it’s indefensible.

🚨BREAKING🚨

After appealing yesterday’s ruling to release *all* SNAP benefits for November, the Administration is backing down.

Remember: These funds are available. They tried to block them anyway.

They’re clearly feeling the pressure. Let's hope this sticks—and every last SNAP dollar is paid out.

While Republicans continue to subsidize fossil fuel giants and sabotage investments in renewables, China is sprinting into the future—and leaving us in the dust.

887 gigawatts of solar capacity. More than double what the U.S. and Europe have *combined*.

The scope and scale are simply staggering.

Just about everyone’s heard of the Farmer’s Almanac. What most people don’t know is that, for more than 200 years, it’s been produced right here in Maine.

Yesterday, Geiger—the Lewiston-based company that’s published the Almanac since 1818—announced it will discontinue publication. (1/3)

Facing a changing readership, the Farmers' Almanac will end publication after more than 200 years of weather forecasts, gardening tips and old-fashioned advice.

A judge ordered the Trump Administration to pay full SNAP benefits.

Their response? Immediately appeal the ruling.

They’re going to court to keep 42 million hungry Americans from getting food.

Shameful.
NEW: A federal judge ordered the Trump admin to fund food stamps in full this month. Pretty quickly, DOJ said it would appeal.

Now, millions of poor families are in limbo, and it is not entirely clear if/when they're going to see *any* SNAP payments in Nov.

I’ve been honored to serve with Nancy Pelosi my entire time in Congress—and to see her passion, determination and resolve in action.

Never were these traits more evident than during the fight to pass the Affordable Health Care.

Without her, this transformative legislation would’ve never happened.

Of all the (many) wild promises Trump made, claiming he'd cut electricity prices *BY HALF* might’ve been the craziest.

According to new data, electricity costs have increased in 47 of 50 states since 2024.

Maine is one of 10 states where consumers are paying at least 10% more—or ~$200 per year.

Immigrants with work permits are vital to our economy—in health care, agriculture, education, and beyond.

The Trump Administration ended automatic renewals for these workers, forcing thousands out of jobs while USCIS drowns in backlogs.

It's totally ridiculous—and needlessly cruel.

Nancy Pelosi’s decision not to seek reelection marks the end of a transformative era in American politics.

For nearly 40 years, she has been a force for progress—delivering healthcare to millions, a historic climate investment, and defending democracy itself in the face of violent extremism. (1/4)

I want to thank my colleague, fellow Mainer, and friend, Congressman Golden, for his years of service to Maine’s 2nd District. I’ve always had the utmost respect for Jared’s commitment, his work ethic, and his dedication to the people of Maine.

For months, pantries like AIO in Rockland have been seeing a big uptick in visitors—which have more than doubled since last year.

Republicans’ unconscionable assault on SNAP is only making things worse. People still haven’t received their November benefits.

Food should *NEVER* be used as a weapon.

Millions of people made their voices heard. And they were LOUD. All because Democrats united around two messages that are clearly breaking through:

1️⃣ Driving down costs

2️⃣ Standing up to Trump

We can’t take anything for granted. But the lesson is clear:

When we FIGHT, we WIN.

TURN THE VOLUME UP!

Today, Mainers sent a clear message that we won’t let fear or division erode our democracy or threaten public safety.

With the rejection of Question 1, Maine voters have ensured that our elections will remain open, secure, and accessible–just as they should be.

🚨🚨🚨

Trump is openly defying multiple court orders and withholding food from 42 million Americans, mere hours after the USDA sent guidance to the states.

The incompetence is staggering.

His threat is illegal, immoral, and only causing more chaos and anxiety for food banks and hungry Americans.

46 days.

No votes.

No government.

We know why Speaker Johnson is keeping the House closed: to dodge a vote on the Epstein files and maintain the partisan stonewall that’s prolonging this shutdown.

Mr. Speaker, DO YOUR JOB.

Now the Administration is claiming it could take weeks or even months to make the partial SNAP benefits payments due to so-called "system changes."

That’s unacceptable.

🚨BREAKING: After pressure from the courts + @housedemocrats.bsky.social Democrats, the Trump Admin has agreed to tap the contingency funds (as they are LEGALLY required to) to make partial SNAP payments.

It’s not full relief yet, but it means families should soon see benefits start to flow.

🚨GOOD NEWS! 🚨

TWO federal judges have ruled that the Trump Administration must continue paying SNAP benefits during the shutdown.

These rulings make clear what we’ve known all along: The Administration CAN and MUST ensure November benefits go out by tapping the emergency fund Congress set aside.

Imagine opening a letter that says your health care premiums are going up nearly 300%.

It's a reality thousands of Mainers are facing *right now.*

Instead of negotiating to extend these credits, Republicans are letting millions slide into economic hardship.

Extend the credits.

End the shutdown.
