I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

People like Shaheen and Kaine who aren't up for reelection are not going along with the Schumer plan to paint them as defectors and are already telling the media that their selection to provide the necessary votes was coordinated with Leadership.

KILMEADE: Schumer says he's voting no. Did you do this outside leadership?

SHAHEEN: No. We kept leadership informed throughout.
one time I pointed out that elon musk followed no women on twitter and he immediately followed caity weaver

It's just so weird and gross to lie to the public like this, or at best to engage in kayfabe, when real world harms are on the line. Just own your decisions. If you can't defend them outright then maybe that should tell you something?

Why are so many political reporters, politicians, and informed people referring the 8 Democrats who sided with the GOP last night as defectors, when some of them are publicly stating outright that this was coordinated with Dem Senate leadership (as their lack of upcoming elections also makes clear)?

The sneering about "socially distanced" is the real tell here. As NYC was suffering through the worst of the pandemic, Silver was whining that he couldn't go out to bars and restaurants. People rightly called out his ghoulish self centered views at the time and he'll never let that go.
the hipsters, they’re ordering double frufru mocha soy frappuccino. doesn’t anybody order a black coffee anymore

On The Gateway Pundit's podcast yesterday, Stewart Rhodes announced he's relaunching the Oath Keepers

He also urged Trump to “call us up as a militia" & "order us all to come together in our counties under his command."

DID YOU KNOW? At over 4 meters long & tipping the scales at 500kg, the largest invertebrate alive today was previously believed to be the colossal squid.

However, as of November 9, 2025 this enormous cephalopod lost the title of 'biggest spineless creature' to Schumer's Senate Democratic caucus.

On this date in 1969, the children's TV series Sesame Street—which featured a cast of puppet characters that included Elmo, Big Bird, and the Cookie Monster—debuted on the National Educational Television network (later PBS).

Of course he approved it!
The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)
Agree.

Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

A deal so crappy at a time so inexplicable that even anti-shutdown centrists like MattY won't defend it.

Masterful work, Chuck. 😒

At its current trajectory the eyewall of Typhoon Uwan (int. name Fung-wong) and certainly the typhoon-force wind field looks likely the slam into the island of Catanduanes in like 6 hours time. Wind Signal No. 4 is in effect, interests there need to seek shelter ASAP.

'Human nature' is the capacity to categorize others as part of self. Extending the boundaries of concern, people often help strangers in emergencies.

His "I'm not going to let the House of Representatives work because that would require releasing the Epstein Files" t-shirt has people asking a lot of questions already answered by the t-shirt.
Speaker Johnson is officially keeping the House in recess again next week. This will be the eighth consecutive week the House has been out of session. The chamber hasn't met since Sept. 19. Adelita Grijalva, who was elected on Sept. 23, has not been sworn in.

I assume that if someone had the crosstabs for all of the polls in the aggregated "...you and your family are..." time series they could model to what degree people were accurately expressing real world demo disparities in economic impacts vs. simple polarization.

How's the economy doing? For many Americans, the answer is how their party's doing | YouGov
When Americans say the U.S. economy is doing well or poorly, that often reflects other factors, including their personal finances and political opinions.
today.yougov.com

From Pew (tho only 2024 to 2025), a fairly big chunk of its uptick in economic pessimism is polarization (I'm not making a claim about which view is empirically more correct). There seem to be some fairly noticeable election year changepoints in the above YouGov.

www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/...
Growing share of U.S. adults say their personal finances will be worse a year from now
About half of Americans (48%) say they have emergency or rainy day funds that would cover their expenses for three months.
www.pewresearch.org

Is there ideology/party ID info for these YouGov trends? I ask because I thought it was a fairly robust phenomenon that a change in whoever was in power would lead to supporters of the outparty claiming a very pessimistic view about a number of things including the economy.
It funded science too. Grand Rapids pertussis vaccine trials moved forward in the 1930s because of WPA funding for nurses and technicians.
you ever think about the works progress administration? I sure do. I wish that was a thing now. I would be so glad to contribute my labor to like. A random ass local bridge
