Hi friends! If you haven’t already (& you’re in a safer position to do so), consider finding (or starting) a neighborhood ice watch/support group.

Even if ice hasn’t been high-activity in your area yet, it’s important to get ready now. And lots of support to provide in the meantime. 1/
According to polling data on who has a U.S. passport, the SAVE Act would disproportionately impact Americans who are...

- white or black (non-Hispanic)
- lower income
- married women
- not college educated
- older
- trump voters

Just wondering if the scale up is straining their counting/reporting systems.

Media challenge: Stop using the word "immigration" in phrases about abduction, assault, murder, and so on. Immigration means the movement of people into a country for purposes of residency. What's being "enforced" here is terror & crimes against humanity.

Wondering whether they’re able to count accurately, even before considering false reporting.

Riffing on psychology, I’d venture it’s their clear inadequacies that make them desperate to claim group superiority, since individual superiority is not in the cards for them.

If you’ll recall, the election was actually very close. Trump won with a narrow 1.5-point margin in the popular vote. And yet, the idea that America had experienced a political “earthquake” that demanded far-reaching interpretations became gospel almost immediately.

God the gall of @jaketapper.bsky.social lecturing that Minneapolis small business owner about the meaning of the word "concentration camp" while people are being crammed into poorly resourced buildings by the thousands and shuttled off never to be heard from again

Yeah, me too.
Trump nominated a legit white nationalist to a top post at the State Department. I asked him some basic questions about his belief in the “erasure of white culture”. Watch this embarrassing, fumbling answer. Like he has never before been asked to explain his views.

Could be part. 3x more wealth, 162x more spending, perhaps.

The Wiki article you point to suggests that in 2008 billionaire wealth was $4.4 trillion. In 2024, it was $14.2 trillion. As you agree, probably part but not all of the answer.

People with the authoritarian personality have a natural, instinctive hostility and contempt toward those groups that their society codes as weak or marginalized. Almost always, women are at the top of that list, but so are minorities, queer people, immigrants, and others.

“more and more colleges and universities are eagerly partnering with A.I. companies, despite decades of evidence demonstrating the need to test education technology, which often fails to deliver measurable improvements in student learning.”
I've said it before, but the first school that promotes itself as "AI-free" is going to corner the market on folks committed to learning. (gift link)

A good start. Then we gotta fix all the things that were failed & failing before Trump II.

One more strike & I'm out!

True, but people who have relationships are much more effective persuaders & mobilizers than paid knockers.

Sorry, not guessing in this case, but rating without really knowing.

And I'd be those numbers overestimate how many actually know, between guessers & generic sampling that pulls in more sophisticated people than in the broader public (according to Pew's own self-tests).

That's my 'teaches PoliSci 101' level of awareness on that. Courts & healthcare def aren't my expertise.

Pretending the commerce clause doesn't allow Congress to legislate just about everything was a big win for rightwingers who want no regulation that reduces corporate profits (but love lots of regulation that boosts corporate profits).
