Just got news yesterday that the LA Charter Reform commission voted 9-1 vote to support and collaborate with an independent (privately funded) 2026 civic assembly devoted to charter reform.
Not gov't by sortition, but a step in that direction.

It’d be lovely to see this wave build across NY & into state governance & state party leadership & fed reps. NY Dems are such a mess. NYC is a great start.

How was Biden not chosen by voters in 2020? I’ve heard people mad that the 2024 primary wasn’t seriously contested, but I’ve never heard that claim about 2020.

Anyone could've run against Biden, and some did, but no one of note nor any who got significant support. Nothing stopped anyone popular except the surety that they wouldn't beat him, & that it'd hurt their future ambitions.

There'd be big fights over what gets into that curriculum...but there are also big conflicts over the curricula that educated the current representatives (who are quite miseducated), so...
