They just want to make everything worse. They want us to die from diseases that could eradicated. They want dirty food and air and water. They want increased child mortality. They want a more unsafe, disgusting, hateful world. And the corporate press is like “but that’s a valid perspective tho?”
A group of conservative activists has worked for 16 years to stop all government efforts to fight climate change. Their efforts are now paying off.

The EPA is expected to revoke the endangerment finding, which has underpinned the government’s ability to fight global warming since 2009.

A hallmark of conspiracy thinking is citing contradictory evidence with no coherent narrative.

If COVID emerged in summer 2019, then it also nukes the lab leak theory. Their best evidence is a few Wuhan Lab researchers getting sick in Nov. If the virus was already circulating, then it's irrelevant

Last week we released dplyr 1.2.0, but we left off something VERY important 🙂

`dplyr::if_else()` and `dplyr::case_when()` are now up to 30x faster and use 10x less memory!

We dive into how we achieved these numbers in this new #rstats post!

my brother millions of metalheads around the world have been happily listening to incomprehensible Finnish shrieks and Japanese death grunts since we were teens, you’re just boring and racist

You can’t have it both ways: report scores “adjusted for demographics” (which includes poverty), rank MS #1, and claim skeptics said “nothing can be done until poverty is addressed” The regression adjustment already addressed it.

(Also, tell me who said “nothing can be done.” Nobody, ever.)

When mentoring my students I am often surprised at how strong the pull is to find a statistically significant outcome. They seem deflated by null results even though I tell them how important it is in our science to have the full distribution of outcomes

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
