I was going to post Elisabeth Moss talking about how “Fred Armisen’s greatest impression is that of a normal person” but when I looked it up to get the wording right I learned AI has somehow turned it from being a scathing post divorce condemnation to being a really nice complement

The comments on this are all about how sweet it is and I feel insane. Using AI to make fake memories of your grandma with dementia and telling her they happened and then filming her reaction

Indianapolis by Lynn Vincent and Sara Vladic is an elevated World War II book, the extended coverage of the trial really puts it above the standard one you pick up at the airport.

Trump: We track Santa. We want to make sure that Santa is being good. We want to make sure that he's not infiltrated, that we're not infiltrating into our country a bad Santa. Santa loves Oklahoma like I do. You know, Oklahoma was very good to me in the election

IT’S CHRISTMAS EVE
How much are you going to pay doctors?

Which current hospitals get shut down ?

What happens if doctors opt out of the system ? Who is going to invest in new curative therapies. You ?

How much in taxes pr year do you think it's possible to collect if you took every penny from billionaires?
Half the amount that everyone currently pays could provide universal healthcare. Private health companies don’t need to exist. Eliminate them. And use your collective buying power and economies of scale to get it done. Every cent of their profit is healthcare denied.

The people who need to do better are the people who reply to viral posts. Take a long look in the mirror!
I would like a feature here that automatically blocks any account that seriously types the words “do better” in your mentions.

Randi has a storied history of being on the wrong side of key political issues when big money is involved (see also: healthcare). Almost makes you wonder why this person has been president of one of the biggest labor unions in the U.S. for *seventeen* years now.

okay fair warning for people who have never seen this movie. it was made in the early 80s so there are some moments which are...rough

Black Moses by Caleb Gayle is good but it feels like the author is constrained by the relatively thin subject matter. He's so talented that I hope he covers a meatier subject for his next book.

Democrats should campaign on "the Cabinet and top defense contractors all have to be drug tested regularly"
yeah I mean it’s genuinely sad that the “reasonable old school” Republican (who Dems eagerly and unanimously voted to confirm) is out here doing pressers blatantly geeked out coke and it’s not subtle

On DOGE’s watch, federal spending did not go down at all. It went up. But is still led to cuts that closed offices, canceled programs and deprived people of food, medicine and other aid.

Just wrapped the Sanders/Collins translation of Theodor Mommsen's History of Rome and you can see why he's one of the few people who left Mark Twain awestruck. Yes a lot of the details don't hold up 150 years later but he got the broad strokes right and when he's on, he's on.
