I spoke a bit with 4 Syrian election observers who got a training in Damascus and will be observing the process in Homs. They were relatively optimistic.

Germany is often marketed as the gold standard of liberal democracy. Yet the so-called guardian of liberalism abandons those values when it comes to Palestine. This is the same country that has deported activists, shut down events & criminalized slogans tied to Palestine solidarity.

The right-wing grievance machine always needs a boogeyman. Post 9/11 it was Arabs & Muslims. By the 2010s it was Mexicans on the southern border. And now, they’ve fixated on trans people to keep their cultural war grievances front & center. The demographics may change, but their playbook doesn’t

The shooter only attended a semester of uni before enrolling in a trade school & was politically radicalized by far-right groups & forums online. Perhaps if he had stayed in university longer, he would have been able to sharpen his critical thinking skills instead of succumbing to far-right violence

Alex Jones level conspiracism from a man who owns one of the largest platforms in the world. If the far-right wants to understand how the Kirk assassination happened, all they need to do is look inward at the culture of paranoia, hatred, and radicalization they’ve spent years stoking.

MAGA hypocrisy at its finest. The same people who spent years mocking police brutality against African Americans, excusing the slaughter of Palestinians, and dehumanizing Muslims (with some even building entire brands and careers off such hatred ) are now pretending to take the moral high ground.
It’s important to understand the extent of the digital bloodlust on X. They’re scraping data from social media sites—including Bsky—to create a searchable database targeting people for perceived thoughtcrimes related to CK. It has 40k names so far, and they’re sharing it with the federal government.

In all seriousness, I'd love to see a reporter try to get comments from all of these people about their initial impulse to declare a literal war on half of their fellow citizens and to see if any of them regret it, apologized for it or learned anything at all from it.
like this is the most irresponsible level of hysteria i’ve ever seen. most of these people are either paid by the republican party, or are high level advisors and allies. this is insane
