Programmer. Trying to enjoy arguing on the Internet less. He/Him.

Sometimes post pictures of food or thoughts on books I read.
on the plus side it is the first time I can remember I'm on a flight that's not full
reasonable argument that I should've just driven in the first place but my phoenix-to-tucson flight has now been so delayed it would've been faster to drive

I get having to explain to people that porn isn't a documentary but it's weird to need to do that for Teeth
I know Milo claims he is 100% straight now, but for sake of everybody's well being he needs to just accept he likes dick.

it's generally not a laugh-out-loud movie for me but the big climax in Crazy, Stupid, Love is so fucking funny

I'm not sure I can tell you what the salary premium you'd have to pay me to move from California to Texas is but it's a lot

is this a response by grok to someone or did they log in to the grok account to manually post this? because both of those are weird and bad for different reasons
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

alarak is fun because he's basically "what if Darth Vader defected to the rebel alliance but kept doing Darth Vader shit"

this genre of article generally underestimates the degree to which this has already happened as a result of geographic sorting. the overwhelming majority of women in my dating pool are Dems, because I live in an overwhelmingly blue area

Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.

I'm going to drop a take and run: he does participate in a moral framework - in fact, his conduct, his approach to governance, the people he surrounds himself with have all crystallized the entire GOP's moral framework into an absolutely clear and consistent "morals for you, not for us."
Real "oh my god, she admit it" moment here. Trump is treated as an uninteresting figure without agency so we can dump endless criticism on liberals for how they react to his "natural disaster." He "doesn't participate in moral frameworks" lmfao

I gotta check a bag because you can't bring trekking poles through security and you gotta have trekking poles for hiking
If your flight will charge $60 each way to bring a carry-on, do you pay it, or make do with a week’s worth of clothes in a small backpack?

in my new programming language, Y, there are no "file not found" errors. if the program can't find a file, if traverses the file system and opens the existing file with the smallest edit distance from the specified path instead

the dumbest thing about blaming Dearborn for the election is that even if Harris had carried Michigan she still would have lost. you are starting an intra-coalitional shitfight for no reason, which is wrecker behavior

americans were, I am given to understand, more optimistic in the 90s. however a basic knowledge of history suggests some reasons other than "Wokeness" this is no longer the case

I try not to be the reddit atheist as much as I once was but it is just fucking psychotic to treat "we're ending cancer research" and "more people are my religion" as comparable

the other part of this that's funny is that after we did the moon landing we also did "computers" and then "the internet", both of which a) america is extremely dominant in and b) rely heavily on immigrants
Immigrant-hating Stephen Miller talks about Americans being "first to harness the atom." But the first controlled, self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction was conducted by a team led by Italian immigrant Enrico Fermi, who didn't become a U.S. citizen until a year and a half later.
