The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. Exceeded my rate limits on Twitter so now I'm here. Sh*tposts and takes on politics, movies, culture, whatever.
Using Twitter as the training corpus is hilarious because you’re just copying pathologies at this point. You can imagine the equally bizarre pathologies an AI would pick up reading skeets.
my suspicion is that by attempting to make Grok racist, they also made it a misogynist pedophile

Obama voice: “folks that’s a third term for George W Bush”
Trump in a single gaggle on Air Force One just threatened:

-- a second strike against Venezuela
-- Cuba
-- Mexico
-- Colombia
-- Iran
-- Greenland (which in turn would be an attack on the EU and Denmark)

No, more forever wars!
TRUMP ON VENEZUELA: WE'RE GOING TO RUN IT, FIX IT
January 5, 2026 at 12:50 AM
Every once in awhile someone tries to do another red state/blue state contrast and just describes the social circles they’ve roughly bumped into it. And since they’re wealthy they always wind up picking bougie attitudes too.

Trump simply does not plan or strategize. He's aggressive, he reacts, he threatens. He's impulsive. He always want to go from point A to B but never considers what point C is.
America is a rogue and malevolent state and global bad actor

First we were doing regime change. Then we just wanted to let American oil companies in. But now we’re doing an oil blockade unless democratic reforms.

We’re laughing about this on our goofy websites.
Dan Bongino has departed FBI, per statement

Marco Rubio is not running Venezuela lol.
WELKER: Mr. Secretary, are you running Venezuela right now?

MARCO RUBIO: Yeah. People are fixating on that. Here's the bottom line -- we expect to see changes in Venezuela

Amazing that aside from arresting Maduro the Trump admin is basically running the leftie foreign policy playbook in Venezuela. Every day is an assault on sanity.
January 4, 2026 at 2:31 PM
Rodriguez is the same kind of communist Rubio is!
“Weeks earlier, U.S. officials had already settled on an acceptable candidate…Delcy Rodríguez, who had impressed Trump officials with her management of Venezuela’s crucial oil industry…intermediaries persuaded the admin that she would protect and champion future American energy investments…”

This story confirms that the vice president (now President) of Venezuela is as involved in the drug trade as Maduro if not more so. Absurd shit all around.
we got so played
"Senior Venezuelan government officials, led by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez...have quietly promoted a series of initiatives in recent months aimed at presenting themselves to Washington as a “more acceptable” alternative to Nicolás Maduro’s regime...funneled through intermediaries in Qatar."
January 4, 2026 at 4:02 AM
Maybe we’re still at war, maybe we’re not. In any case if they’re willing to tolerate Rodriguez the current communist government isn’t a red line for them, and presumably Rodriguez’s government is still in the drug trade, so what did we learn here, Palmer?
Marco Rubio said he’s reserving judgment on Venezuela VP Delcy Rodríguez’s denial, saying the U.S. will judge the interim authorities by their actions in the coming days and weeks and urging them to seize a “historic opportunity” to serve the country.-NYT

As usual, Trump’s base believes his latest move is brilliant. Everyone else? Not so much.

This doesn’t seem surprising given how little opposition US forces on the ground faced. The question is to what degree their military can or will put their thumb on the scale.

What we learned is that Trump thinks he’s a badass and there’s no actual plan going forward. We could do nothing or drop 100k troops in-country week. Somebody check Hegseth’s BAC.
Trump press conferences are like a Lost episode. You watch expecting three answers to pressing plot lines, but only get one and then three more questions. No way to run a country.

You guys are freaking out but we could’ve had a President who was old and stuttered. Or a black lady from California. Imagine how worse things could be! This is the good timeline.
Veteran New York Times national security reporter David Sanger says what Trump is describing in Venezuela is an "American occupation."
January 3, 2026 at 4:58 PM
This is peak Trumpism. We have no way to actually run Venezuela, but he’ll claim to be doing so because he just says shit.
"We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition." This is regime change.
January 3, 2026 at 4:48 PM
The thing about Venezuela is it’s ~2,000 miles away so you can escape the immediate consequences of war. Mexico is not.
Trump on Sheinbaum: "The cartels are running Mexico. She's not running Mexico. We could be politically correct & nice and say, 'Oh, yes, she is.' No no. And I've asked her number times, 'Would you like us to take out the cartels?' ... something is gonna have to be done with Mexico."

Shoving a bunch of US personnel in a destabilized country, great idea. Also the API must be going nuts right now.
TRUMP: US WILL BE STRONGLY INVOLVED IN VENEZUELA'S OIL INDUSTRY

I hate to give it to Harper but Venezuela isn’t the Middle East the troops get the honor of going to South America.

Oh fine, I’ll break the first rule of Bluesky and talk about the news. And worse, mostly by not just parroting the same “this is horrifying and the world is coming to an end” that everybody else is posting.

The world is not coming to an end, and this is, in classic Trump 2 form, really dumb

My extreme unpopular opinion hot take is that there is a path for all of this to 'work out' because there is more or less already a Venezuelan shadow government in Gonzalez and Machado. Who whatever they are or might become, are not currently Chalabi nor Karzai.

You do this to try to save the Hispanic vote, the lynchpin of your 2024 victory. And this probably buys you some time with them. But if you’re still sending ICE to their door it doesn’t matter.
What are the politics?

That’s the first question you always ask. What are the politics? What about it makes them or the country stronger? Who votes on it?

The answer here is nothing and nobody.
