This is the same discourse we had around 2000 with the rise of Google, and the answer is the same: there should be a law that protects your data online. Of course there isn't because lobbying and advertising.
More and more people these days are interacting with LLMs as legal, psychological, and spiritual confidants. The government should not be able to have access to those thoughts willy nilly. My latest: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/o...

The problem with Episode 1 isn't that it's about taxation of trade routes. The problem is it's terribly presented, incoherent, and otherwise in a movie made pretty blatantly for an 11 year-old.
Be normal about a Star Wars movie: impossible
The inciting incident for conflict in The Phantom Menace being a trade war is inherently a flaw, according to a writer for the New York Times (a piece of unofficial regime propaganda for the current presidential administration).

1/ The Bernie wing of the party in Virginia is basically Sam Rasoul and Elizabeth Guzman (Lee Carter is somewhere in central Virginia with his wife taking advantage of the mentally ill). It'd be funny to see Louise Lucas run but she's too powerful where she is.
This site is going to be real disappointed about the most likely person to primary Mark Warner in 2030.

1/ It's interesting that this site moves pretty quickly between "Democrats should do whatever they can stop Trump" and "Democrats should let Republicans do their worst and run against it." I see a lot of people frustrated that Dems picked a fight over ACA subsidies.

Idk if Hochul gets primaried but I know that Stefanik has no shot at the governor's seat in a blue year. Even in a 2010 red wave she would probably narrowly lose.

It's really disappointing that 2023 has turned out to be as much a political pathology for the liberal base as 2016 has. The next nominee really needs to put both to bed somehow.

If they pushed New Jersey gubernatorial back to next year Sherrill would win by more than 20% in these conditions.

God could you imagine the down-ballot pain for Republicans if SCOTUS overruled a 70-30 issue? Would make Dobbs look like a drop in the water comparatively (I promise you that's what SCOTUS actually cares about).

I'm dubious this provision doesn't get stripped out but someone has to make famous whoever put it in there.

As it is, the big question was less the Senate and more if Johnson would ever allow a House vote or a discharge petition would be forced. Johnson, in his infinite wisdom, is teeing up to be the smirking face of every Democratic midterm ad.
A dirty little secret about government shutdowns is they almost never give the party that shuts it down what they want. What actually distinguishes Dems here is they didn’t get blamed.

Btw, I am very curious as to how much unemployment has increased in the past 2 months. I don’t like Schumer but he’s right the Republican hand is getting weaker over time, not stronger.
This one of those classic “nobody gets what they want”-type situations and I think people are genuinely underselling the idea that we wind up right back here in February.

I see a lot of bad incentives for Democrats to be outraged tonight. It’s a short term CR. Dems have until the end of the year to get the health care subsidies. They can shut it down again if they have to. They’re playing with fire if they hold out too long. Planes will crash.

The fact that the deal expires on Jan. 31 is what makes it tolerable.

Come to think of it this the OBB all over again. Yank out $100 and give the consumer back $1 and call it a win.
So in other words premiums still increase but you can pay for your meds with federal money. Lol okay guys.

I think absent some major reforms we will be headed for declining home values nationally for a decade or two, in that world we might have to resort into increasingly strange ways to stimulate the market including negative interest rates.
A 50 year-mortgage isn’t a terrible idea so long as you can refinance but for short-term sales you would barely accrue any equity. I suppose if they actually become common home values would be quite static anyway.

This is deeply sad behavior on his part, just a guy who can’t retire and needs to make public service about him.
Andrew Cuomo needs to fuck off & go away forever bc his political career is over. But if he's still too dumb & narcissistic to understand that & wants to embarrass himself *again* then I will be happy to see him handed another humiliating defeat. This is my district & he lost this whole area badly.
Great, let him get his ass kicked again by someone who actually lives in the district and has connections to it. He can keep wasting Bill Ackman’s money.
