one of the ideas that got stuck under "defund the police" is that there genuinely are situations where you need a "law guy" but he does not need to have a gun. someone should come take a statement in a car accident but they don't need to be armed to do it.

I cannot think of a place I have posted where I would view making the official site highlights as a reward rather than an accusation

if I see a car wreck I'm calling 911 to get paramedics and the situation has still been improved if they also send some guys with guns to stand around despite the fact that you can't solve a car wreck by shooting it
November 11, 2025 at 5:12 AM
also some of the time you are calling 911 for something else and you don't really get to decide if they send the gun guys

I'm doing my part by getting as many of them killed as I can

it takes 10 pounds of plant to make a pound of cow. even acknowledging that we feed cows some stuff not suitable for human consumption, a basic knowledge of the tropic pyramid implies veganism is better for the environment

if you think veganism is more environmentally impactful than meat you have failed to understand middle school biology

I actually think "when does it become ethical to kill hitler" is fun question. can you kill teenage hitler who's internalized cultural antisemitism but is still kinda a kid? can you kill art student hitler? post-war but pre-nazi hitler?

a fun fact in that vein is that I'm pretty sure there was a period where the guy who plays M'Baku was actor with the highest average gross, because his first two movies where Black Panther and Infinity War

the movie thinks it is exploring an ethical dilemma but it is most compelling as a meditation on reasonable doubt

Juror #2 is way better than I thought from the premise but feels like it falls short of greatness by misunderstanding what's most interesting about what it's doing

you know what Borges and Wolfe had in common? they were not self-consciously producing art to make a point. they were making art because they *liked making art*

Avatar is incredibly impressive for the sheer detail they put in to even background effects with 2009 cgi but man you couldn't put in like 20% more effort on the plot or world building?
November 10, 2025 at 11:10 PM
he's so bad at posting. if you can't figure out a tweet worth of stuff about a movie I do not believe you liked it. I could probably write a tweet about any movie I've seen, even ones I thought sucked

I think in this particular instance the thing is mainly that the GOP is completely willing to let children starve to prove a political point (specifically that they will let people die from lack of access to healthcare)

someone described it as "racist but generic enough that you feel racist for trying to figure out which group it's supposed to be racist against"
