When a collaborator is targeted because her scientific findings that attribute extreme weather to human-caused climate change is being used (effectively) in climate lawsuits against oil companies, you know times are dark indeed.

Kennedy has insisted covid shots are still easy to obtain, claiming that @hassan.senate.gov was “making things up to scare people.”

But The Post talked to people who are struggling to get the vaccine. Elaine Cox, a 68-year-old with lung disease, said she wept after being denied a prescription.
In a combative appearance before the Senate Finance Committee on Thursday, Kennedy bristled when Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-New Hampshire) accused the Trump administration of taking steps that deny people vaccines. "Everybody can get the vaccine. You're just making things up," Kennedy said. "You're making things up to scare people, and it's a lie." In Virginia, Elaine Cox said she and her husband asked their doctor for a prescription before leaving Saturday for a vacation in Italy. The office declined because it hadn't received CDC guidance. Cox, 68, suffers from chronic lung disease, and her nephew died of the viral infection in 2022. "I was crying this afternoon about this," she said on Thursday. "My family takes [covid] very seriously."

If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then we're up for grabs for the next charlatan, political or religious, who comes ambling along."

Temps over 100°F predicted for Paris today. This city isn't built for this heat. AC is v. limited in both public & private spaces. Even when they have it, folks don't always know how it works. For ex my bus has AC but ppl keep opening the windows despite decals saying "keep window closed." Hot sigh!

The U.S. government has collected DNA samples from upwards of 133,000 migrant children and teenagers—including at least one 4-year-old—and uploaded their genetic data into a national criminal database used by local, state, and federal law enforcement, according to documents reviewed by WIRED.
