What's the value of academic articles and doing research? The product or the process?

This article has been a long process, and how I've processed the ongoing AI disruption of research. I use it very little, and while it's clearly not all bad, I argue for caution.

Among other things, US authorities demanded that EVERY social media account of this Norwegian journalist must be made fully open to public reading, and listed on his application for a visa.

The visa never turned up.
I think it's inevitable it will come here, unless we do an end run & build trade ties with all the other non-mega countries. Which is possible. With AI, we can solve logistics quickly, & there's already a move for a new WTO because the old one is broken. If it's more peer-to-peer, it may be robust.
