From avoiding deaths due to extreme weather, to averting collisions of objects in space, to informing decisions of farmers and fishers, NOAA offices constantly generate trusted, open information that has profound, tangible benefits for people and businesses. NOAA is facing the potential of losing more than 25% of its current $6 billion budget.' Without NOAA, the US economy will be no match for everyday events, and woefully unprepared for climate change. Based on daily values, the May average of atmospheric CO₂ at Mauna Loa was ~430.5 ppm; that's 3.6 ppm higher than last year, a big jump again!
