I've been told that the other site is toxic but this one is not

Meh

Goodwill to all and all that.

I dunno it’s also full of people having meltdowns about mild criticism of the site so…

Perhaps not everything has to be about ‘the moral high ground’
I don't think you can explain people staying on X without saying something about their discomfort or lack of it with the use of the platform to promote racism and fascism in the US and elsewhere. Not mentioning the topic is very revealing.
I saw someone ask why anyone would still use X when Bluesky is available.

I think the explanation is:

1 Experience on a platform depends far more on who you interact with there than on the platform overall.

2 The experience you get on academic adjacent Bluesky is not a good fit for everyone.

Great second half performance and great hustle from Justin to win that free kick

Let me tell you about Daniel Munoz and Daichi Kamada…

Is the position of the Atlantic Monthly really that one cannot rule out treachery by Canadians? Are you not just a wee bit embarrassed by that wording?

It’s inspiring in a way

Graeme Wood, who wrote this inanity, is a lecturer in political science at Yale. So this one is on us, guys.

An amusing number of previous candidates also fit this set of criteria

Closer to 320 I think

Got to give HMT credit for their commitment to the bit of emphatically ignoring all other departments.

What if we try to reinsert the feathers into the goose? Wait, why are they still honking?

Tories could have done a very good triumvirate with Cameron (Pompey), Sunak (Crassus) and Johnson (Caesar). No, I will not be taking questions.

Would almost certainly need SNP rather than Greens given they will win more seats

I think the chances of the leadership not changing are under ten percent...

Tories still might do better in long run by keeping 90 odd seats but preventing Reform from outdoing them by much and then coming back in 2034. So splitting the vote could make more sense for them than the purposeful suicide of merging.
