L'Université meurt de l'auto-censure.
Le 16 octobre, un communiqué est envoyé sur la plateforme de cours en ligne d’AMU, AMeTICE. Il est écrit et signé des deux codirectrices de la licence, Hélène Thomas et Carine David. Dans ce courrier, que Marsactu s’est procuré, il est reproché aux étudiant·es de première et de deuxième année la tournure qu’a prise l’échange. Il leur est rappelé que les débats d’idées doivent « se faire dans le respect de chacun », « sans prise à partie ni invective », en tenant compte « des formes de politesse requises dans l’espace public démocratique ». Si Sarah reconnaît que sa question était « piquante », elle ne pense pas qu’elle était « agressive ». La forme est-elle vraiment ce qui a dérangé ? Un autre paragraphe de la lettre attire l’attention : « D’autant qu’en l’occurrence, outre la politesse due à un conférencier invité qui accepte de se prêter au jeu des questions-réponses avec des étudiants, il paraît peu judicieux de s’en prendre à une personnalité marseillaise éminente, qui apporte une aide importante aux étudiants précaires de l’université, notamment alimentaire, au travers de la fondation qu’il finance et en termes de financement de la construction et d’aménagement de logements universitaires. » (...) Nouvelles règles pour les conférences Autre élément clef du courrier, les deux codirectrices indiquent qu’une « autre façon de faire » sera désormais mise en place pour les futures conférences proposées « par le président d’université ou le doyen » : « Nous procéderons dorénavant nous-mêmes à la sélection des étudiants qui seront invités aux différentes conférences » Cela s’accompagnera de « séances de préparation », ajoutent-elles, lors desquelles les étudiant·es devront réaliser « une fiche de synthèse sur l’organisation et les missions de l’institution des invités [sic] » et « faire un compte rendu écrit individuel ou collectif de la conférence ». De quoi inquiéter Younes Dufresne, porte-parole de l’Union étudiante, qui dénonce une forme de « censure ».

On Dec. 6, 1917 at 8:45 a.m., the Imo and Mont-Blanc (which was packed with explosives) collided in Halifax Harbour.
At 9:05 a.m., the Mont-Blanc exploded. The 2.9 kiloton blast levelled most of Halifax, killed 1,700 and injured 9,000.

1. The palynological evidence, a fancy way of saying pollen deposits in peat cores, shows conclusively that pre-farming, this was all forested by a rich mix of oak, pine, birch, hazel, willow, rowan, and other native trees, along with all three native filmy ferns, for example.

There was a significant volcanic eruption in the Afar region of Ethiopia near the Erta Ale volcano today. METEOSAT-IODC weather satellite picked up imagery of the ash cloud moving east over the Red Sea and Yemen.
