look, I'm no fan of the Bourbons, or of monarchy in general for that matter -- but to invoke them to characterize Trump is I think deeply unfair to Versailles and the French absolutist monarchy
Hero’s of the day - In a small town of Beckley, WV, Kendra Sullivan staged a one-woman No Kings protest. She was confronted, had the police called on her, but stood her ground. She was physically threatened. Police came more than once and protected her right to protest. This is how we do it.
This is what democracy looks like. #NoKings

What a kind thing to say, Gautham. I will treasure this. And I cannot wait to read your newest--I love learning from scholars I can trust to do the work!

And already had an AI submission--for a 3-page, ungraded diagnostic exercise designed so I could help them see how I grade. Literally worth no points. And the hallucinate citations were obvious, so it got my "I'd give it an F" response. Was he testing to see if I could catch him? Probably.

Assigning prompts tied to readings that require use of quotations as supporting evidence. AI can't do that with new books, unless students can source the text.

Ready to read!!

We’re up to at least 97 cases in which district courts have blocked Trump policies—from 73 different judges (appointed by seven different presidents) in 25 different district courts across 10 circuits.

Today’s “One First” looks at what critics of these rulings are leaving out of their narratives:
155. What District Court Critics Aren't Telling You
The increasingly loud claim that district courts are abusing their powers by blocking Trump administration policies depends upon a series of indefensibly selective (and easily rebutted) arguments.

This is exactly how fast Trump went from violating one immigrant's rights to violating American citizens' rights.

It did not take long.

Privitizing, aka selling off irreplaceable national assets, has always been the plan.
The plan is to break the parks, claim they must be privatized, take them from the American people and give them to their friends.
Update: the Trump administration has proposed cutting the National Park System by $900 million, about one third of its budget.
