La date du 16 juin avait été dans un premier temps pressentie pour son entrée au Panthéon, mais la cérémonie a dû être décalée de quelques jours en raison du G7 à Evian-les-Bains.

Look what's arrived! It seems crass to be talking about it after everything that's happened this week, but I think my new book on the Blair years is fair, balanced and judicious. Available at all good bookshops: www.amazon.co.uk/New-Labour-B...

I just re-read, for the first time for years, the memoir I wrote for the British Academy for Jerry Cohen, shortly after his sudden, shocking, death in 2009. Here it is a Word file for those who don't have access to the British Academy volume.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible.

It leads on "sharply contested narratives"

It has a dramatic skew to the US government

It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue

Blue Streak missile, anyone?
We should know by now not to respond to one of Trump’s weekend posts as a definitive statement of policy. The content is as outrageous as it is absurd. For that reason there will be strong pushback from markets, Congress, perhaps Supreme Court as well as European governments.

Benefit claims among young people are rising - but almost half of NEETs don't claim out-of-work benefits.

This lower-than-it-could-be welfare spending might seem like good news to some policy makers, but also highlights a policy dilemma - how can we reach NEETs who aren't engaged with the state?
