It took over 4 years, but the paper is finally published. In this study, we developed novel methods drawn from #LegalEpidemiology to map addiction #stigma in California law.

This #interdisciplinary work was conceptually and methodologically difficult!⤵️

I like the explanation that the Ring was still building its power, but also that the Ring jumped at the chance to be found but didn’t necessarily have tons of choice as to who found it. It was working with a limited ceiling with Smigel, but eggshell plaintiff rule IMO

Oh no worries I asked and appreciate any insights from lived XP 🙏

Having a migraine today and I do have sumatriptan but I’ve never taken it before. Yes/no?

I love that book soooooo much. Tis incredible. And without a doubt the greatest Dracula story ever told, including Stoker’s.

Seriously

Jewish people can feel any way they like about Xmas or no way at all but just here’s a solid Sefaria article on some of the reasons why some Jews feel uncomfortable on the day

I'm all Apple all the way so this would require leaving the walled garden and am still leaning towards doing it

I have no good reason why, but I sort of want a foldable phone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He’s actually already Uber Eats-it to the J nearest MSG for the afterparty

It’s not bad I just don’t understand why it’s become such a big thing. Also chocolate is never boring FYI 😂

I don’t really get it (chocolate is my favorite food on the planet by far). I mean, it’s fine, I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️
December 25th. The day the Fellowship departs Rivendell to destroy the One Ring.

Whatever you celebrate, may you have the courage to take the first steps to defy and endure against the dark, and rekindle light into the world.

I have a cloche from @kingarthurbaking.bsky.social but I’ve struggled to get top results with it until today! This is one of the better-looking boules I’ve ever made; that nice of an ear is difficult to get with commercial yeast (I don’t use a starter). This is Parmesan Pesto flavored.
I'm reminded of Dan Farber's 1986 article, "The Case Against Brilliance," which is pretty much about that problem in the legal academy.

SO MANY GRIEVANCES!

We started airing then a few days ago in my house
Phew! Long list this year!

“Never start a sentence with ‘Because.’”

In addition to it being grammatically correct, in persuasive writing In particular starting a sentence with “because” forces you to state the justification for the position in the sentence. It’s a terrific tool for the genre.

I have an article out today in JME Practical Bioethics discussing ethical issues in health-related philanthrotainment. Think MrBeast swooping in with a camera crew to a remote village in Zambia to set up a solar power supply, posted on YouTube, and redirecting ad revenue to support the project.

NEW: Paper in @jama.com (me, Glenn Cohen, & @drsinhaesq.bsky.social) discusses FDA plan to approve leucovorin for new indication based on "case reports" and "mechanistic data"

1. Departure from FDA's evidentiary standards

2. May harm patients and set bad precedent

No one believes me when I tell them that I read 1000 pages/week in my humanities PhD program (I am a fast reader but still).

I like to remind people that if there was a single slogan for the medieval and Renaissance humanists it was "Ad fontes!"
