The US has always been deeply imperfect, but this Amnesty International report is sickening
Amnesty International released findings from its investigation into the Everglades Concentration Camp (Alligator Alcatraz), which was built by the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

They found evidence of torture, among other human rights violations.

Financial cuts to #EndMalaria are disrupting health systems, weakening surveillance, and delaying malaria interventions.

Sustained and predictable funding, including a fully replenished Global Fund is crucial to getting us back on track and maintaining our progress.

Once, as a doctor in South Sudan, the Maternal-HIV Specialist had siphoned diesel from a drum into a generator by sucking on a small tube. At the Agency, she spent hour after hour, day after day, pressing CONTROL-F through documents, replacing gender with sex. She CONTROLLED-F as she ate oatmeal...,

Really REALLY trying not to freak out about this rhetoric
Leavitt’s citizenship comments clash with SCOTUS

Karoline Leavitt: “You’re either a U.S. citizen or not — You can’t be a U.S. citizen & a citizen of another country.”

The Supreme Court: It ruled in 1967 that the government can’t strip U.S. citizenship unless a person voluntarily relinquishes it.

My previous lead fell through, so...

Does anyone in Western Washington have an electric piano with weighted keys that they no longer use and would be willing to give away?

I have a ten year old ADHD kid whose heart is set on one for Christmas but it's not in our budget this year.

Happy Monday, December 1st! Just in case you feel like you don't have it all together, I thought liquid lunch meant soup until well into my 30s. There's always room for growth (and martinis, apparently)!

Today is World AIDS Day.

“An awareness day is not a strategy” is the US government's rationale for not publicly acknowledging World AIDS Day for the first time since the inaugural WAD in 1988.

My 4th grader was asked to make a 'Keep Christ in Christmas' poster for his parochial school (I know 🙃), and he's drawn Santa putting communion elements under a Christmas tree along with the presents. I'm sure that's totally what they had in mind 😂

Authoritarians typically neither like science nor scientists

We are seeing this everywhere

So, fighting for science is also fighting for democracy

The women drawn to RFK Jr. see an intoxicating cocktail of romance and danger—whether it's getting attacked by a yak or texting about taking metaphorical bullets for each other.

But to most others, Kennedy is a reckless conspiracy theorist whose appetite for danger will result in a sicker America.
The inexplicable sex appeal of RFK Jr.
How can such ferocious desire be attached to this man? Two memoirs by the women who love him offer some clues.

Making Cancer Great Again!

Unconscionable.
The EPA has approved two new pesticides with "forever chemicals" that will be used on food.

The agency has also announced plans for four additional approvals.

The approved pesticides will be used on vegetables such as romaine lettuce, broccoli and potatoes.

REVERSE-LC clinical trial update: I had a good 3-4 weeks followed by increasing symptoms and fatigue. I'm certain I'm on 4 mg of baricitinib bc I've needed extra labs. I've now lost 10% kidney function 😬 so dropping to 2 mg.

I know we'll crack this thing, but long covid is really hard
