We love to hear that our language guide for students (and really, anyone!) on sensitive terms and historical language is useful! Check it out here: bsky.app/profile/paul...
@jackiantonovich.bsky.social @paularcurtis.bsky.social Want to thank you for the updated "No Offense" work! Given that this semester's course is "Warring Nomads of Asia," the NO doc provided a good on-ramp for discussion of how we should approach the term and the societies we're studying.

If you have ever struggled to get digital copies of research material from the NDL while NOT in Japan, this is the survey you want to participate in! ⬇️
The National Diet Library is exploring the possibility of extending its Digitized Transmission Service for Individuals (DCTI) to those residing outside of Japan. To understand potential demand, the NDL and CULCON have created a survey. Deadline for responses 3/31! forms.office.com/Pages/Respon...

Every time I see someone who has an electronic key to get in their car/apartment/office/etc. I think about how we’re one blackout away from being locked out of everywhere. Just use a physical key.
My apartment has switched from having keys to using an app called 'Door' by 'Latch.'
Now no one can use our apartment building. Truly love this dogshit.

Are you tracking banana steps this year? I made a template you can download/copy to your drive as a fun way to have some low stakes 2026 goals, @thebananaspodcast.bsky.social-style. 🍌🍌🍌 Some days you're a brown banana, and that's okay! Banannual goals can be lowkey. docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

100% this. Prestige obsessed parent would repeatedly ask if I had chosen between the two schools he considered worthy and I never regretted going to the (third) one that felt right instead.
#2 advice as grad application season heats up: this is impossible for a lots of folks, but if you’ve the luxury of a choice: choose your program based on who you want to go to work with everyday.

i chose my program based on people; never regretted it. (hi, triangle folks! 💙🩵❤️)

SAUCE CALL! Someone gifted me a yuzu ponzu sauce (!) and it got me thinking, maybe I'm not bored with food, maybe I'm just not punching it up enough with dope sauces. Do you have a sauce that's killer? Smother everything in it? A chimichurri you'd smack on a donut? Tell us us (me) your secrets! 👀

It’s really difficult & disorienting but the feds hit LA extremely hard today. There were kidnappings all over & reported cluster raids in Chinatown, East LA, Ktown. This list shows to 1130 AM but they haven’t stopped all day

Just because the media attention stopped doesn’t mean the abductions have

Now that they've safely arrived, I can share these two other pet portraits I gifted some friends! One is Stretch, the handsomest man, who is responsible for Rigatoni getting her first bowtie. Fox's sneef snoof is, in fact, a solid basis for friendship, so a painting of his snooter was appropriate.
