the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

It's worth reading the whole interview in full. It basically verifies that the NYT has spent the past decade-plus doubling down on top-down narratives for coverage, getting more intense over time.

Sulzberg personally picked & chose whom the news apparatus would target and whom it would kiss up to.
In this in-depth interview Billie Jean Sweeney — a former editor at The New York Times — details how the paper shifted towards openly promoting anti-trans hatred, why this was directed from the very top, how some staff pushed back and the immense damage done by the NYT legitimizing bigotry.

Federal election spending by the 100 wealthiest Americans is now 140x what it was in 2000.

Last year they crossed $1 billion in election spending.

The Joyce Carol Oates and “books written between 1890-1930 are so ALPHA” thing struck home because it showed how many elites nowadays lack the ability to be moved or find meaning in art beyond what we did watching John Wick and going fuck yea this rules and that explains why they believe in AI art

It's galling that the NFL shitlibs chose woke mediocrity Bad Bunny to perform at their $uper Bowl $how instead of choosing an iconic legend like Kid Rock, who I do not support, or Ted Nugent, who I also do not support.

As a public figure himself, Kirk did not restrict himself to politeness. He was incredibly crude and cruel about the deaths of other people. Reflecting on his life should reflect the truth.

Over the past decade, the adoption of body-worn cameras has been one of the most popular and durable police reforms in the U.S.
But this step for police accountability is not always particularly effective.

one thing we're really lacking is a bunch of lazy guys who've never worked a real job in their lives telling us how to manage the optics and messaging of the same old democratic policies. if there were only guys who could tell us the right way to say the same old thing! this is why we lose

The simple fact that the Democrats are a party who look at military occupations of our nation's capital and major cities and think "I must find out how this is polling" before they speak out against it is WHY they are a party that cannot respond to the current moment and will be despised by history.
This memo is being sent to Democratic leaders/elites,
arguing that directly attacking Trump's deployment of the National Guard in DC is politically unwise. It encourages the use of terms like distraction and stunt. (I am not endorsing this kind of thinking at all. ) www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/bz9d8...

Public vastly overestimate level of ‘graduate regret’, poll finds

Democrats too often create a villain-less politics, and it’s a reason why many people don’t trust them.
My kingdom for a Democrat who runs on “You know how Medicaid stopped covering her nursing home last year and you went bankrupt trying to pay out of pocket? I’m going to punish the people who did that to you.”
The one thing we’ve learned is that cruelty is sexy and we should have promised to rain hell on Trump.

The conservative movement is lying about basically every empirical "debate" of our time, from climate change to voter fraud to vaccines. Why is it so impossible for reactionary centrists to contemplate the possibility they're lying about trans healthcare too?
No, New York Times. That's not what trans people are saying.

I get that there are some genuinely disgusting people in healthcare. Trust me. But people really do not seem to understand that a significant percent of the population shows up to say slurs and physically assault the overworked and underpaid people trying to help them, and there are no consequences.
Abusing healthcare workers is really unacceptable
I once had a family member call me the f slur for doing a ‘woman’s job’ (I’m a male nurse).

It's pretty irritating how many pundits would hear the ideas "I want to shove 100 live scorpions in your mouth" and "I want to shove 0 live scorpions in your mouth" and sagely declare: "The wisest course of action is to let someone shove 50 live scorpions in your mouth."
