His entire persona is about power, revenge, and poorly attempting to cover up his green, sickly looking skin?
Trump: "I like religious people. It usually means they're more honest. Sometimes it doesn't happen that way. I've had some real religious ones that did numbers on me and I said, 'I'm gonna get them someday.' They got me by surprise. But it's usually good. His name is Mike Johnson."

In all seriousness a LOT of sites have been found by members of the public/ farmers etc. Terracotta warriors were found by Zhao Kangmin and I got to shake his hand when I visited years ago. So many stories like this.

Zhao Kangmin was the first expert to identify the ancient warriors, one of China's cultural treasures.

I get the whole "the stripper likes me" thing. I had a hospital coffeeshop barista memorize my order once and I was like it is definitely because she likes me and not because I come here every day and order the same thing.

Had this experience the other day on a post and just gave up the exchange entirely because I'm too tired and some people intentionally want to be mad

your mileage may vary but my experience on here improved pretty noticeably when I stopped offering explanations to people whose questions sought conflict rather than answers

I implore you to hit up CVS and get your flu shot. Please don’t game it with whatever else you heard. It’s real serious and we don’t gave any public health allies in the government now.

For my Pediatrics and Family Medicine colleagues-

As someone who did a stint as both ward attending and ID consult attending over Christmas, I was struck by the number of infants, children, and teens that I cared for with severe influenza and complicated pneumonias. Most not vaccinated vs Flu.

my 75yo mother told me last night that she’s planning to delete Instagram and Facebook because she’s sick of not being able to tell what’s AI and what’s not, and I genuinely don’t think tech companies have reckoned with this kind of move as an actual possibility

Fun facts: getting a good night's sleep, drinking lots of water, stretching, exercising, and taking your meds makes you feel much better.

My friend said her daughter is getting picked on in preschool by a kid named Gary and all I can picture is a toddler-sized 50 year old who is balding and smokes a pack a day.

It's eugenics. All of this anti-vaccine policy BS being pushed by the incoming administration is designed to harm those who are already sick or disabled and they're trying to sell it as some sort of big holistic movement so it is more palatable and better accepted by the public and lawmakers.

And I'm talking about previously healthy individuals. I cannot fathom seeing this within the pediatric population. I'd lose my mind.
The number of long covid trach-dependent patients that I've taken care of and still do is pretty high and that's not including those who are on dialysis for the rest of their lives from some preventable illness

This is so important.

I’ve taken care of children who didn’t die from their vaccine preventable illness but instead

-lost limbs
-developed kidney failure requiring dialysis
-had strokes and permanent deficits

Death isn’t the only bad outcome.
And sometimes it may not be the worst one.
The narrative over the last few years has increasingly been, “Either it kills you or you’re fine.”

That narrative is dumb. Infectious diseases can (and do!) do all sorts of horrible, non-fatal damage. Which is also very bad and worth preventing.
The CDC changed the universal vaccine schedule & no longer recommends

Rotavirus
Hepatitis A & B
Meningitis
Influenza
RSV

I’ve cared for previously healthy kids who died from RSV, influenza and meningitis.

We all are going to be caring for a lot more now.

In our already overflowing hospitals

This is purpura fulminans, a severe complication of meningitis (which as of today is no longer on our universal vaccine schedule)

Micro clots & bleeding into the skin cause skin & tissue death. It’s more common in kids & associated with 20-70% mortality.

Those who survive often lose limbs.
