MTV killed a bunch of genres (eg. yacht rock) when music videos came out, because those dudes were weird as hell and pretty funny looking.
But now that the Music Video is no longer prominent, we get all sorts of fun new weirdos doing weird music shit on the basis of how it sounds again.
