all this stuff makes much more sense if you understand “anti wokeness” as a general backlash to elite accountability more generally, even if you have criticisms of left wing egalitarianism bsky.app/profile/kevi...
The possibility that pre-Elon Twitter was limiting the reach of conservative tweets was the greatest story in the history of journalism, while a vast network of sex trafficking pedophiles that included billionaires, celebrities and two presidents is just a big yawn.
Sure, sure. Story checks out.

Shit like this is why it drives me batty when people fawn over "progressive" mayors like Mamdani or Michelle Wu.

They may put on a good act, but they're still willing to use state violence against some of the most vulnerable and marginalized people in society.

The whole system is the problem.
“Homeless encampment sweeps are ineffective, they are costly and they don’t actually solve the problem of homeless,” said Jeremy Saunders, an executive director of VOCAL-NY.

In cultural and legal context, how did the criminal conduct of Trump's masked terrorists under ICE, CBP, and "Homeland Security" come to be? For much of its existence as a nation, America has allowed the gradual emergence of a super-empowered class who can carelessly kill mere citizens with impunity
"The cops can drink as much as they want there...The bartenders serve them till they're blackout drunk and let them leave." Quote from a woman who was hit by a drunk-driving cop *while sitting in her living room.* This story from the @inquirer.com is a hell of a thing. share.inquirer.com/yynTQX

Anna Wakeman still questions why 7C Lounge bartenders didn’t stop serving the officer who crashed into her house and upended her life five years ago.

“Not all executive power rests with the President“ is … striking, considering that it is literally the theory of the unitary executive, that is the actual thing
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yes, I would think "there actually is a cabal of billionaire pedophile industrialists and heads of state manipulating global politics to their own ends" is marginally more significant.
In a CNN interview today tied to the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, @repjohnnyo.bsky.social of Maryland made a striking claim: that the full scope of the Epstein network — if ever fully disclosed — could represent a scandal larger than Watergate.

I'd prefer it not have taken decades but personally I like blows being struck against elite impunity and would like that for us in the US very much
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of the UK’s King Charles, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. It comes after further details of his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein emerged, the BBC said.

To be fair Brazil and South Korea cracked down on Yoon and Bolsonaro *precisely because* they have been dictatorships in living memory, and the UK monarchy let itself be investigated like this *because* other monarchies collapsed. Assuming your institutions are unimpregnable per se... not so smart
No disrespect to the UK or South Korea, but it's nuts that a literal monarchy and a country that was ruled by a military dictatorship as recently as my freshman year in high school are holding elites to account while the US gives them more power and works overtime to insulate them from consequences.

It is notable that Andrew has been arrested for "misconduct in public office", which is precisely what the US Supreme Court decided no American president can ever be charged with.
So SCOTUS, with its fabricated-out-of-thin-air immunity doctrine, has actually made American presidents less accountable than LITERAL royalty.
Breaking News: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested in Britain on suspicion of misconduct in public office over his links to Jeffrey Epstein, the BBC said.

Most will be sent to die in places they've never been to or to be tortured by Trump pals.

The president is the only major world leader pulling every lever of govt to shield pedophiles implicated in the biggest minor trafficking ring ever uncovered and it isn't even a story, forget major or ongoing. US political media needs to be burnt to the ground and rebuilt from ashes. Irredeemable
1. The president is burning up the American middle class with the largest tax increase since the early 1990s, which itself is snowballing the price of everything from coffee to clothes to carpets to car parts.

Yet this isn’t a major, ongoing, attention-grabbing story.
