271,000 people have lost their jobs and federal spending has ctually increased. So people get less services, while we added debt paying for private jets for Kristi Noem, bulletproof cars for Kash Patel. This is what the rust belt voters demanded.

President Donald Trump gifted the world with nearly 200 Truth Social posts (and counting) on Christmas Day, where he amplified conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and called for a member of Congress to be deported.

I always thought Plato was pretty pollyannaish on this point, but this is decent evidence for the view that a man of bad character will therefore be unhappy even with every external trapping of success and good fortune.

It doesn’t fix things, but it really does bring me comfort to know how miserable some of the worst people are. Donald Trump tweeting over 200 times on Christmas. Billionaires fighting with strangers online during the holidays. Everything about Elon Musk

It’s insane how Alex Jones went from “Guy who would say the craziest shit on his show for attention.” to “Oh, no, he was right about everything. But he’s friends with the shadowy cabal of pedophiles, so he’s not going to rat any of them out.” In the span of a decade.

thank you, Mola, for touching so many lives. I love you. words will never be enough for how much love you carried.

she passed early this morning, her final decision a paw onto Static's chest, reminiscent of 'I love you'. she was so loved and cared for. she will be dearly missed.

NYT provides no evidence here, probably because the claim is flatly untrue. See eg recent Pew data, or many posts on the subject from @gelliottmorris.com this year

this has always been one consideration but it seems more and more hollow in the era of AI is coming and every single one of you is going to be the buggy whip manufacturer in the new world order. what makes health insurers special in the new "learn to sew shoes and screw together iPhones" world
the only real question is: are we okay with laying off most of the health insurance industry? and i personally am, but i get why some others might not feel the same way

im sure there's a ton of interesting analysis on how much putting the provision of health insurance on to private employers actually costs us collectively. wages depressed, jobs not created etc. the system we have is ruinously expensive for employers. how does anyone defend it
