This is one of the things I hate most about modern capitalism. The idea of making money has been fully peeled away from delivering any kind of goods or services that people would want to pay money for.
What a thrill to be part of @talkingpointsmemo.com's series about the past 25 years of digital media! I wrote about why private equity goons destroyed Deadspin and why it matters.

for this week’s My Time Back i wrote about Lizzy Goodman’s oral history Meet Me In The Bathroom, a book that is easy and smart to recommend to someone who seems like they might like it (they will). i also wrote about being uncomfortable for the sake of a scene mytimeback.beehiiv.com/p/meet-me-in...

Dallas fans chanting "Fire Nico!" enough that it's actually happening is basically witchcraft, which I mean as a compliment.
BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks are expected to fire Nico Harrison, sources tell The Athletic.
The former Nike executive drove the decision to trade Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers eight months after Dončić led Dallas to an NBA Finals appearance.

My most firmly held and dumbest gambling opinion is that point spreads are for nerds. "I'm betting on Cleveland to win OR to lose by less than five." Grow up! Pick a winner! You shouldn't be happy if a team you pick keeps it close! You should feel BAD!

I do think sports betting should be legal, but you should have to place bets in person with someone you are afraid will physically harm you if you don't pay up.

Hey #Seattle! Just 3 more days until our Baristas' strike deadline. Get your alternate coffee plans ready in case those picket lines appear at the end of the week.
If baristas have to walk out, we’ll walk with them — straight past Starbucks.
Workers are fighting for fair pay, fair hours, and an end to union busting. Stand in solidarity: don't buy Starbucks if baristas go on strike! Sign the pledge: seiu.co/NoContract

I don't like what he's saying here, and I definitely don't like that he's saying it with Sex Hair for some reason.
Kaine on why he thinks just getting a vote on healthcare is a win: "We're the minority party, but everybody will get to see who is standing for them when it comes to lowering their healthcare costs"

One small thing that jeopardizes any claim NYC might have to the "Greatest City in the World" title is that there's both a Jets game and a Giants game on tv here every week for the entire football season.

solidarity forever with the Quirk Union; zero solidarity, respect, or understanding for management’s decision to ratfuck the entire staff (union and non!) out of their livelihoods.
A final update from Quirk Books Union ✊💔 Devastated that, in the three months since we unionized, management never met the union at the bargaining table -- and now the remaining four union members have all been laid off.

Marisa is doing really great work.
SNAP benefits are currently being held hostage by the Trump administration and their fate now lies with the Supreme Court.
Beneath the legal arguments are real people who simply need food—a former federal worker, a single mother of 4, a disabled man. I spoke to them. Here are their stories:
