Hi PsychSky! 👋

What better way to kick off than to tell you all about my first first-author paper, just published in Molecular Psychiatry.

Here, we set out to resolve a surprisingly fundamental debate: do our brains continue to make new neurons throughout life? 🧵

Beebgate demonstrates two truths:
1 Right wing media hold everyone else to exacting standards of ethics and probity while holding themselves to none whatsoever.
2. You can’t curry favour with the right wing if you’re an entity they want to destroy.
This looks rather meaningful.

Good point! I recall a similar situation in UK season 2 with Jaz, Mollie and Harry…

That's.... exactly what's going to happen, isn't it.

I was of course also screaming at the TV. I’m just trying to find a way to forgive…

(And the edit was cruel. It was only in retrospect I realised that the hundies were a one-sided affair. Nick had never fully bought in.)

But David made it clear he never suspected Alan - had Nick voted red, he’d have been gone. (Appreciate he didn’t know this when he voted)

Nick played a pretty canny game and almost had it - I forgive him for his fatal error now that I have had time to recover from the heartbreak.

Like a beloved England player who fluffs a penalty… if only Gareth Southgate was there to comfort him.

So long as we can keep sparklers.

Sam addresses it a bit later in the piece: "But frankly nearly all Labour seats are vulnerable at the moment, and the leader can always move seats if necessary, so this shouldn’t be a decisive factor"

And, I should add, even for international graduates who come to the NHS for a specific job, then find themselves stranded and unable to find further work / get onto a training programme. Increased flexibility of training pathways would help somewhat.

It is essentially due to the post-Brexit immigration system which allows international colleagues to apply directly to postgraduate specialty training programmes on an equal footing to UK graduates. While I am pro-immigration, this has resulted in an unemployment crisis for UK grads.

I suppose the argument is that Britons are investing-averse and stash cash to spend in 20 years when it would be better invested. What would be a better way of encouraging investment?

The Clubcardification of chain restaurants!

I’m glad to see that it has found an audience!

How exciting!

Sorry. You're surely a VIP. They should have let you in.

Doesn't that sort of imply they were aware it did kinda rip off / pay heavy homage to Misery Business, but Hayley was cool about it?

I do not understand why people don't point and laugh at these idiots

I feel like putting them in the food waste bin hot and sopping wet would accelerate the whole lot going manky (to use the technical term)?

Would love for FKA Twigs to win this year’s Mercury, having been blown away by her All Points East performance. Would be happy with CMAT too!

Thanks for giving me something to mutter on my commute home.

@jim.londoncentric.media seems like today is the real start of “commuter chaos” - much worse than yesterday for me. I wonder why that is - was Monday an inset day for some kids? WFH?

Today seems much worse than yesterday for some reason.

Or like Father Christmas when he’s on his rounds.

Which way was he headed? Just wondering if I might catch a glimpse out of my window.
