Just gonna show this chart to everyone that complains about Joe Biden not dropping out soon enough or whatever.

America is a country full of obnoxious dipshits that have very strong opinions about things they know absolutely nothing about.
The 2024 Data Don't Lie:

The only issue voters can clearly associate with the modern D Party is support for gay rights.

That's it.

Voters are 50/50 on which party is on SS and Medicare.

Yes, really.

That's why we need to leave pound them on the economy and critical programs like Medicaid.

The basic problem of health insurance: if you want sick people to be able to get insurance, then the insurance product ceases to be traditional insurance, bc the insurer cannot price risk. Once you accept that sick people should get insurance, you must accept some variety of a socialized system.
Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…

My ACA current plan is going from $385/mo to $821/mo.

In my old town the GOP had run basically without serious challenge for decades. A bunch of us "millennials" joined the local Dem party and basically asked to help.

We were running it in a year. Within 4 years we had a majority of town seats flipped Dem. A FAR more progressive Dem than old party
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

I’m about to fill my pockets with stones and walk into the sea.

The Senate Dem splitters are cowards who gave in way too easily somewhat too soon and also we weren’t doing this forever. Seriously, guys. It was never on the table to do this forever absent Republicans refusing to vote for their own bill, which I suppose they still might over in the House.
This was 110% a glonzo issue for 90% of the bsky poasting population, who was apparently too stupid to do basic math or understand how the US Congress works

i dont think there’s ever been a point where corporate america has had a sincere sense of morality but it is probably a sign of the times that the culture at most major firms does not even pretend to encourage ethical behavior anymore. the transformation is really stark in tech.
i honestly do not know what major company in america isnt involved in some ghastly shit at this point? i just would not *do* the ghastly shit yourself.
are we shaming people for having worked for companies that did ghastly shit elsewhere but far away organizationally because I'll be the first to say I ran a poop plant for a company that was/is major defense contractor and I'm pretty sure was involved with NEOM and *am* sure works with the UAE

i think "Trump learns he can get things out of the legislature by threatening to starve Americans" is a giant political boon for Democrats honestly. like how do we think he is going to employ that lesson in future that does not have dire electoral consequences?
like this is basically it, the melts melted under pressure

Reminder: a lot of people currently handicapping how the end of the shutdown will play politically also handicapped how the shutdown would play politically 40 days ago and they were pretty wrong about that.

It’s such a bad idea, when one of his crimes was calling forth an insurrection, that he’s actually forbidden from holding the office by a constitutional provision, which a unanimous Supreme Court invented a way to turn off.
To repeat: Maybe electing a life-long criminal to an office where he can pardon other criminals wasn't such a good idea.

It has been my duty as a historian to record how smelly Che Guevara was. Honestly one of the stinkiest dudes in history. He was immensely proud of this & once showed off a pair of underpants he’d been wearing for two months. They were so filthy, he won a bet that they could stand up by themselves.
I am listening to Red Heat, by @alexvont.bsky.social, and I am shocked by how shitty people the male protagonists of political events in Latin America and the Caribbean were in the cold war. And the idea of how bad Che Guevara must have smelt is chasing me in nightmares

one of the funniest things about all this is that when you read about the history of men and warfare it is an endless series of internecine feuds between the biggest fucking prima donnas you've ever heard of
THIS IS WHY WE ALL HATE EVOPSYCH. Can we please fucking discredit this pseudo-naturalist bullshit at last?

A lot of nyt folks, me among them, believed we could change the culture and the coverage from the inside. That by working within channels, we could convince the leadership of its obligation to cover trans ppl fairly.

In hindsight I’ve come to think I was naive.

Republicans drawing district maps that can survive a +8 Dems swing: Haha Fuck yeah!! Yes!!!

Republicans modeling a +10 swing to Dems: Well this fucking sucks.
After Dem wins in Georgia & Mississippi, any state Republicans who go along with Trump's gerrymander plans are putting their political necks on the line & they know it
not to bring the vibe down, but my guess is that after tonight Trump will probably double down on gerrymandering, voter suppression, and intimidation as tactics to disincentivize Dem turnout ahead of next year‘s midterms. (with margins like these, it won’t matter, but it’s a time to be vigilant)
