In a huge blow to Nancy Mace, Gov. Henry McMaster announced his endorsement of Pamela Evette to be South Carolina's next governor in hopes of clearing the field and earn her an endorsement from Trump.

McMaster backs Evette to replace him as South Carolina governor. Is Trump's endorsement next?
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is backing Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette's bid to succeed him, and he tries to thin a crowded Republican primary.

People talk about what should be the first-in-the-nation primary, but honestly, hard to beat Michigan:
-Union state
-Detroit has a large Black population
-Swingy suburbs
-More racially and ethnically diverse than Iowa or New Hampshire

Right: And also, some of the smartest people I've met in Missouri politics are rural electeds who don't have college degrees.
One of the most annoying tics in American political discussion: equating class/income level with education level. It's how we talk about HVAC repairmen or car dealers who vote for Trump as "working-class" or "Middle Class" rather than upper-middle class or upper-class.

If you want to know why Steve Cohen keeps winning his majority-Black district despite being an old white dude, this is why.

CORRECTED Again, what we still don't know and what victims deserve to know, is what was the nature of the sweetheart deal Acosta gave Epstein and why they gave it to him.
February 11, 2026 at 5:41 PM
Feels like Massie is the only guy on the dais who came with substantive questions about Epstein. They rest was just grandstanding and pettifogging
February 11, 2026 at 5:33 PM
Why am I not surprised that Epstein was obsessed with eugenics? (and he talked about it with Noam Chomsky!) Good dive via @juliametraux.bsky.social.

The ultimate irony? Ricky Martin’s song in the show is all about how Puerto Ricans don’t want their nation to be exploited like Hawaii was and Bad Bunny himself is a supporter of Puerto Rican independence (the light blue flag symbolizes independence and was banned for a bit).
It literally had a heterosexual wedding, dude

Really funny how the so-called “manly” jobs that Trump wants to see return like manufacturing and oil production and are not doing that well. The only one that really is succeeding is construction.
Most of the job gains for January were in education/healthcare -- but especially healthcare (+82k)

Solid number January 2026 (+130k). However, the change in total nonfarm employment for 2025 was revised from +584,000 to +181,000 (seasonally adjusted). So much weaker than initially estimated

This is very much the case. The spending of the wealthy is really the only thing propping up the economy at this point.
This morning on @cnbc.com, B of A said the “K-shaped” economy is increasingly about not just the split between high and low-income — but high and MIDDLE-income consumers.

Democrats have mostly focused on immigration through a civil rights lens in the past 20 years or so while Republicans have made it a public safety issue. But few Democrats have made an economic case for it. Hell, even Bernie isn’t that much of a fan of H-1B visas.
MAGA dimwit Peter Navarro accidentally admitted Trump-MAGA's claim about immigrants taking jobs is a scam. And as @pkrugman.bsky.social notes, not only is job growth down; *manufacturing* jobs are also down. The whole MAGA story is in collapse.

There is no home health care industry without immigrants. Objectively
The home healthcare workforce is disproportionately comprised of immigrants, and it's certainly not because they take jobs US-born folks want. As a result, "a 25% increase in the steady state flow of immigrants to the US would result in 5,000 fewer deaths nationwide."
