Was it always this painfully, obviously, stupidly, transparently evil? Did our govt lie more convincingly before, or was it always this clearly monstrous? Bc everything in my lifetime has been pretty obviously bullshit but grown adults still fell for it

I am struggling with what might be a generational experience. The gulf war was pretty politically formative for me. It’s not history so much as memory this time.
It is destabilizing to see almost the exact same gameplan but this time without the guardrails that at the time I took for granted.

It's always the Dems have no power, so fragile even bringing up trans rights or Gaza or M4A could DOOM US ALL. At the same time Dems in power are our only chance, as long as if the Black vote/youth vote/Brown vote/antiwar voters turn out even though they were ignored in the campaign.
