There I thought we might have been beating Baba's record of having had as many Prime Ministers as birthdays but it looks like not...

Bad Bunny’s performance began in the plantation, featured broken electric poles, and ended by centering a hemispheric understanding of “América”—among many other things—and some Anglo journalists are like “his performance wasn’t political.”

This is why we need to be telling our stories.

masking is not an extreme measure; it’s like, level zero of measures. it’s the easiest possible option

For most people, the pandemic days of masking are behind us. In certain corners of the Winter Olympics, though, things still look a lot like they did in Covid times. Some athletes are taking extreme measures to stay healthy. n.pr/4akK70l

english language division tip for you all:

when non-americans say 'Yankee', they usually mean 'USAian'

when USAians say 'Yankee' they mean a WASP from New England and if they are not themselves from New England, it's not a compliment

What bothers me most about the way people are discussing the Epstein files is that most seem to be treating the matters they address as things that occurred in the past, for which justice must be done, and not things continuing to happen, with children in urgent danger.

Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl

Why is nobody asking if “severe” rain is over diagnosed when it is part of natural weather variation? Instead of flood warnings, people should be helped to find dignity through labour with a compassionate approach to getting those in a temporarily submerged lifestyle back into the workforce.

It does make me proud of our culture that we’ve all pretty universally agreed that a 97 yr old lady dying of a preexisting illness was Liz Truss’ personal fault
And Johnson and Sunak, I suppose, but nobody shat the bed quite like Liz. Killed the queen, fucked the pound, properly pissed off bloody everyone, including Tory voters, all in the space of like a fortnight. Outlasted by a lettuce. Let's not forget her achievements pls.

Mortality rates were so high on sugar plantations during slavery that slaveholders used to coerce enslaved people working other crops like cotton with threats to sell them or their loved ones to sugar plantations.

That’s where the term “sold down the river” came from.
