It’s funny you mention this because I’ve found that a majority of those cinemasins / overly negative “apolitical” channels ended up becoming barely veiled antiwoke channels once they saw their numbers dropping
I was never anti-woke but I used to watch "rage porn" essentially about various badly made Hollywood movies back in the day. There was a certain high I got off picking them apart but eventually I grew out of it just cause there was nothing to learn. It's just thing bad, be angry about it..

To be blunt, we’re your canary. And we’re sick and tired of it. We warn you and you ignore us. Politicians use us to score “good Christian” points. Then y’all act surprised when your rights get stripped away. If you even hint at being anti-trans, you’re an asshole & trash.
It exposes directional alignment; you still seek to limit, not expand, who is allowed to be human. Yes, you have set your limitation more inclusively than our fascist gang of white supremacists; it doesn't mean you're not also setting limitations & they'll use your limit as long as it serves them.
I can't trust politicians who are anti-trans. Not because I'm "only searching for perfection" which is what centrists will be accusing me of for the rest of my life, it's because if you're not pro-trans you'll be garbage on lots of other issues too. Being anti-trans NEVER exists in a vacuum.

thinking about it, you'd hear quite a lot of polish and ukrainian as well.
in this little town of about 2500 people you could hear welsh, armenian, hindi and mandarin being spoken on any given day. sometimes you even heard people speak english in english accents.

I mean, the fact is britain has always been multicultural. at least since the romans first arrived, anyway.
January 17, 2026 at 3:26 PM
not that there aren't plenty of welsh reformites ofc but there's a certain type of middle-class english person who deeply resents being exposed to culture that isn't exactly, 100% the same as their own. and that welsh is the native language of wales both confuses and enrages them ime.
January 17, 2026 at 3:22 PM
only one of those groups was hostile to the speaking of welsh. I was once in a cafe where this english tourist shouted at a young woman behind the counter: "are you going to serve me or just speak welsh all day?" at the top of her voice. 100% chance that she's a reform voter now.

it's working-class communities that are the most multicultural and it's largely white middle-class shut-ins who believe shite like this. it's also not strictly urban: the small town in rural mid-wales I lived in for a few years was very multicultural.

multiculturalism is so objectively good that if you don't enjoy it you are defective and you should feel defective

It's a Leica, too. And he threw it anyway, good for him.
He posted this an hour ago, with the music “Join ice” by Jesse wells.

I think he’s ok.

Getty photographer was tackled by about 50 agents while covering Whipple.

He threw his camera at another photographer to prevent it from being confiscated.

Personally the only formats that I can discern a noticable difference in quality in is cassette tape, and much older MP3s from the 2000s when they were super compressed. (Not that this made them unenjoyable at the time). Vinyl, CD and digital files all sound as good as each other to my ear.
January 17, 2026 at 2:04 PM
I've seen a lot of people on youtube argue and argue over what sounds better btw but I feel like they all forget that only a very, very small number of people are listening to music on £5 grand bang and olufsen speakers lol.
As for the sound quality I know digital and CD is technnically superior but on a pair of mid-range speakers I bought for 200 quid a decade ago I cannot tell the difference at all, except for the pops and crackles (but I kinda like those).

And yes I am a vinyl fangirl now. It's not my first experience with it (I used my parents turntable a lot before the needle got knackered) but I am now very much a vinyl person. One of those. I'm owning it.
January 17, 2026 at 1:52 PM
With vinyl you can't even skip tracks (well, you can, sort of, but it's imprecise and iirc it can end up scratching the record) so you have to listen to the whole thing, and personally I end up finding a new appreciation for tracks that on streaming I would just end up skipping.

But also I'm just talking about myself here and I'm sure there are loads of people who don't have this problem lol
I might have a low attention span and maybe ADHD though, so it's hard for me to focus on just a handful of artists and really get into their work on a platform that offers virtually *everything ever.*

I used spotify way back, when it was still free and without ads. I think the best thing I can say about it is it's a good way to find music that's hard to come by on physical media.

But that also highlights that an OG pressing for 20 quid is usually the way to go… cheaper than a new pressing, less likely to have mastering issues
