if you are coming here to argue with me you gotta understand that you probably can't read and that's not my fault
It was one of the top three institutions I would define as "underpurged"

Considering the military's leadership was wildly anti-Republic I really don't think this is true
January 17, 2026 at 9:49 AM
The keenness with which a fuckload of you engage in it lowkey makes me assume that you are just not a nice person to be around in real life. Like is this how you talk to people there too
January 17, 2026 at 5:08 AM
Beyond anything else this is completely antithetical to human comfort.
January 17, 2026 at 5:03 AM
I'm addicted to this impulse too but you guys really should contemplate whether your replies sound like someone pulling up a chair to a conversation you're having at the bar and going SORRY I COULDNT HELP OVERHEARING YOU. YOU'RE COMPLETELY WRONG ACTUALLY
January 17, 2026 at 5:00 AM
I am really quite tired of how people are genuinely chomping at the bit to tell you you're wrong on this type of site
January 17, 2026 at 4:59 AM
At a certain point I have to ask people to demonstrate their right to claim James Connolly would recognise you as kin rather than some weird Yank.

I don't know her, I don't know how tangible or not her links to Ireland are. But I do know she was not born there and does not live there and has not lived there. It's larpy.
January 17, 2026 at 4:02 AM
This is simplistic on my part and that but on some level I find diaspora use of the symbols of revolution in countries that they claim descent-based affinity to, like Calla's easter lily there, just so very very sad and pathetic.
Great reminder that much of the far-leftโ€™s presence within the pro-Palestinian movement has been driven less by concern for Palestinian lives and more by an ideological obsession with opposing the West at all costs, even when it means legitimizing mass-murdering regimes, from Assadโ€™s Syria to Iran.

I'm not trying to defend the United States as a country in its conduct, I'm just saying that unlike literally every European politician, FDR was in fact marked by a certain clarity of mind as to the scale of the problem. There's no need to argue against arguments I'm not making.
January 17, 2026 at 3:53 AM
There is stuff the US could have done to be sure and I think turning refugees away is particularly shameful but I would also not say that they were doing /nothing/ until formal entry into the war, there was a lot of preparation and that preparation was in large part motivated by FDR
January 17, 2026 at 3:47 AM
The only ones you really have to say "well there was nothing you COULD have done" about are the Czechs
January 17, 2026 at 3:43 AM
you can probably play a game titled "come up with reasons why a country didn't do enough to beat the nazis" about every single country in the world
the unhappy reality is that ww2 was a war that needed to be fought but most of the people ultimately involved in fighting it pursued narrow self-interest and unrelated bullshit such as territorial claims on their neighbours right up until they no longer could
January 17, 2026 at 3:42 AM
Please read the article.
January 17, 2026 at 3:37 AM
we can discuss endlessly why, but it is true: he was not like that
January 17, 2026 at 3:36 AM
yes lmao it is where i got my love for drow
January 17, 2026 at 3:35 AM
you know who I will note was fundamentally an exception to this rule? FDR.

anyway with very few exceptions most key actors in the interwar world were doing so much the literal opposite of what one might do if they genuinely thought that hitler was a real problem that an honest account of the whole thing makes almost no nation look particularly good
January 17, 2026 at 3:30 AM
Yeah I know but I want actual proper rings
January 17, 2026 at 3:27 AM
Is it actually more convenient? Idk. But I love the concept of ring coins sorry
January 17, 2026 at 3:26 AM
My favourite bit of microworldbuilding might well be Tyranny inventing coins that are rings for the express purpose of it being convenient to keep them on a string. I love when a random game company comes up with something that makes me go "I wish we had that irl"
January 17, 2026 at 3:26 AM
yeah i was gonna say is that not just fairly standard occult fascism
January 17, 2026 at 3:22 AM
you can. but that's the point: they're basically fascists
