i do think it's very interesting how for both of them industry and socialism are clearly somewhat tightly linked (in a derogatory sense). it's not what you would expect from people from a country that very much industrialised /before/ a socialist government!

might just ape @yungdreyfusard.bsky.social and write a fanfic military journal article that argues that sauron was never close to winning (not my actual opinion but it'll be fun)

these two concepts need to be separated out somehow, which of course requires us to be able to discuss things in good faith, which of course requires people to not lie about their motivations, which means we're fucked

it is in my view rather odd to hyperfixate on a litigation of whether the BBC works well or badly when the vector of attack is whether it should exist. it is also rather odd to hyperfixate on a litigation of whether it should exist when the discussion is whether it works well or badly

i know how unpleasant those moments can be because i've been on the receiving end of this but actually most of it is usually entirely self-inflicted. don't go into PvP mode if you can't handle it!

they do this basically all the time; like the entire thing they do is basically accuse everyone who happens to have a different opinion of having their judgment clouded by irrationality. that it is possible they are the one whose judgment is clouded apparently just doesn't register as a possibility

Yeah on a banal level even the amount of stories about an abducted woman killing her captor pretty clearly indicates that the ancients did have the capability for a general ethical sense that was bad

The reason I'm asking is because "Mesopotamian power intervenes in Mycenaean-Anatolian dispute" seems hardly unlikely
