I don't post on Substack because I already have my own site where I post stuff, and have done for 27 years, and because Substack makes a lot of money off Nazis and fascists and I'd really rather not, thanks. I do have an account there but it's to secure my name. It has a cat photo.
Hey, you're on many of the socials, why not Substack?

Nobody expected the zombie apocalypse to be digital.
Meta has patented AI that can run a dead person's account, continuing to post and chat on their behalf

It can message and video call by replicating a user's online behavior using their past data

I am considering leaving Substack for another newsletter platform. I would love to hear from those of you who have left, specifically about the user experience at your new home. What do you like and what don't you like? Did your Substack followers come along for the ride, specifically paid subs?

I often think about the fact that if the FBI et al had not killed Fred Hampton, he would be 78 today. Younger than Jesse Jackson was. Must have felt strange to outlive many of your contemporaries by decades.

Although I actually agree that students got a rough deal during the pandemic, it's very difficult to read these accounts of them taking legal action because they think what was provided was not worth the money they paid for it. The hours and hours spent recording and editing lectures in lockdown...

The news about students seeking compensation from universities for COVID teaching has made me quite sad.

I can't say what happened at those universities, or what those student's experience was. My present university did not appear to be in the list.

But what I can say is...

I think it’s time for Democratic leaders to start saying “if you’re a pilot or ground crew involved in a deportation that was stayed by a judge, you’ll be held criminally liable for human trafficking.” Everyone involved in these flights should have that fear in the back of their minds.
Overnight, this probable ICE flight landed in Benin and is now returning to Senegal, likely for a crew layover.

Please keep in mind that ICE still hasn't left Minnesota and many of our neighbors are still living in fear. If you're able, please consider donating to one of the many aid funds listed at standwithminnesota.com.

Thank you again! 💖

Could the firing of this teacher set a precedent that could be applied to other teachers for expressing progressive political views? Only if we pretend like "Go ICE" and "Fuck ICE" are somehow equivalent political statements. They are both political statements, but they are not equivalent.

if I called those fascist motherfuckers "pandemic ICE," when it comes to comparing the harms on our communities when it comes to housing, jobs, and education to the harms that covid did to housing, jobs, and education ... does it make them sound too cool?
