What a better way to start a Monday than with the third part of "A Jam's list to 2026 releases"?

Third part of my most awaited titles for 2026 and that I hope to cover in the blog (depending on review copies and all):

This year for the Shimmering Worlds challenge hosted by @afantasysky.bsky.social I managed to do 10 out of 12 of the prompts. This challenge celebrates and highlights POC authors and so I love joining each year.

The photos below show which prompts I managed.

Just in case, here's my list of titles I loved in 2025. You might want to increase your TBR
It's time to finally talk about my favourite books of 2025, so I made a list, without any kind of order, that pretty much covers it. It may be great to fill your TBR!

No literary agent who is going to get you a deal is going to charge you upfront. They make a percentage. That is how it works.

If someone says otherwise or tries to "upsell" you, they are scammers.
Ok, since this has come up four times in the last three days:

REPUTABLE LITERARY AGENTS WILL NOT CHARGE YOU MONEY.

IF A LITERARY AGENT WANTS TO CHARGE YOU FOR AN "EXPEDITED ACCESS PACKAGE" THIS IS A SCAM.

Cry, Voidbringer, by @artofelaineho.bsky.social (pub by @solarisbooks.bsky.social) is an excellent novel, full of political intrigue and complex and flawed characters that invites the reader to think about broken systems and corruption.

Burning phantoms in the gloaming sky.
Pasty flesh tattooed with seaweed.
Eyes watching from every shadow, especially your own.
Pain that etches bone, then deeper still.
A leash so tight it suffocates.
Primordial fury, modern targets.
Tell me about a WIP you haven’t started or just started drafting.

What’s the premise and what makes you excited about it?

If you like a book?

Review it. Ask your library to buy it. If you can afford it, buy a copy for a friend. Recommend it wherever you're social. Send the author an email, or a skeet, or a Ko-Fi. Write fanfic. Blow under the wings of the paper airplane so it can fly a little farther.

A pre Christmas reminder of the most fun I've had writing a book ever.

A spiky, difficult man who can't let down his walls.
A street kid bent on vengeance.
A monster no one knows if they can trust.
All dragged into a murderous conspiracy.

And there's crows. So very many crows.

"John Wiswell manages to take a tragic tale and provide redemption for Heracles in the end. I was bowled over by the characters introduced in the second half of Wiswell’s story and will always treasure how it felt in the moment I first read Wearing the Lion."

I am humbled by Will's praise!

If your response to people trying to raise valid concerns over The Odyssey movie is to say “It’s fictional, get over yourselves”, then you need to grow up.

In between the usual naysayers there are people actually trying to start meaningful conversations about their culture & you’re being a dick.
